Hyderabad|India|August'2012: The Chief Minster Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy visited the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport’s state-of-the-art MRO facility. This is the first visit by the Chief Minister to the MRO facility. This facility was inaugurated by Mr. Ajit Singh, Union Minister for Civil Aviation, on 13th March, 2012.

The Chief Minister along with Home Minister Smt. Sabitha Indira Reddy, Major Industries Minister Dr J Geeta Reddy and Minister for Infrastructure & Ports, Mr Ganta Srinivasa Rao toured the entire state-of-the-art facility which includes 1 Wide body hangar (can also accommodate 2 narrow body aircraft alternatively), 1 Narrow body hangar with 2 Bays, and 1 Narrow body cum Paint hangar.

Mr G.M. Rao, Group Chairman, GMR Group briefed Chief Minister about the Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facility which provides full aircraft base maintenance service infrastructure in India, and will cater to the maintenance needs of the regional and Global Airline customers. He also explained how it performs the Engineering & Maintenance Service operations on Narrow body aircraft like B-737 NG, ATR 42/72, and A-320 family of aircraft types and on Wide body aircraft like B-777 & A-330, in this MRO facility.

“MAS GMR AEROSPACE ENGINEERING CO. LTD.” (MGAE) has developed this MRO facility to provide full aircraft base maintenance service infrastructure in India and will cater to the maintenance needs of the regional and global Airline customers. MGAE is a 50:50 Joint Venture partnership between Malaysian Aerospace Engineering Sdn. Bhd. (MAE) and GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL). The Joint Venture was formed to develop an integrated, best in-class third party airframe Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facility at the Special Economic Zone within Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad.

MAS GMR has signed mid-term and long term contract with some major airlines like Go Air, Spicejet etc for taking care of their MRO work.
