The delegation informed that Norway has been playing a major role at global level on matters related to climate change. Their Embassy has already funded two Research Projects i.e. Clima Water and Clima Rice in Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu. These two projects were mostly research oriented and were implemented through local partner i.e. International Water Management Institute, ICRISAT Campus. The Total outlay of the programme is Rs.24.34 crores and the main objective of the programme is to contribute to the improvement of adoptive capacity of the Agricultural and Water Sectors to the challenges of Climate change in Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister informed that the State Government has created additional irrigation potential to 21 lakh acres through "Jalayagnam" and another 30 lakh acres are being created in coming two years. The State is adopting proper measures for providing policy inputs to Climate and sectoral plans.
Sri Eivind S.HOMME, Ambassador of Norway, Sri Ajoyendra Pyol, Special Chief Secretary, Irrigation; Sri V.Nagi Reddy, Principal Secretary, Agriculture; Sri N.Sridhar, Additional Secretary to Chief Minister and other senior officials also attended.
