Youth
have a major role to play in making India Shine: Santosh Hegde
Hyderabad|India|August'2012: I want the youth of our country to
take part in the democratic system where they can weed out corruption and
malpractices which will bring about the desired change which almost all
citizens of India are dreaming of, said Justice Santosh Hegde at an
Interactive session with the students of University of Hyderabad. Justice
Hegde was speaking on the Role of youth in the Democracy at the session
organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) along with Young
Indians on 2nd August 2012 at the University of Hyderabad Gachibowli
campus. More than 400 students, industrialists, faculty and people from
all walks of life attended this session.
Justice Hegde in his interaction with the students said that we must
overcome the attitude of greed for wealth and imbibe humane qualities to
bring about a sea change in the lives of the common man. He said that
change may not happen in a year or two but a journey of 1000 miles has to
start with a small step.
Reacting to a question on the role of lawyers, he said that he would like
all lawyers to be honest and perform their duty with integrity. He said it
is a noble profession and care should be taken to maintain its dignity.
Justice N Santosh Hegde is the former Justice of Supreme Court of India
&Former Solicitor General of India and also Former Lokayukta (Ombudsman)
for Karnataka (2006-2011).
