Hyderabad, January, 2005:
The Four Day International Conference on Systemics, Cybernetics and
Informatics (ICSCI-2005) which kicked off here in city concluded
recently at 9pm at Taramati Baradari Culture Complex. The objective
and focus of the four day conference was to motivate students and
faculty towards research and development and to provide a common
platform to discuss latest trends in the arena of Systemics,
Cybernetics and Informatics.
The valedictory function was graced by Dr. Ganta Subba Rao, State
Chief Information Officer of Govt of A.P; Mr. CLN Gandhi, Jt.
Commissioner of Transport, Prof Sethuraman Panchanathan from Arizona
State University, USA; Dr. Ing. Claudio Moraga, Chairman of
Theoretical Computer Science, University of Dortmund Germany, Mr. M.
Mukunda Rao, Professor of Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore,
Mr. A. Ashok, Director of Bio-Technology, Govt. of A.P; Mr. E.G. Rajan,
Founder President of Pentagram Research Centre and Prof. A.G.
Ramakrishnan, Associate Professor of Indian Institute of Science,
Bangalore.
Giving his closing remarks, Professor M. Mukunda Rao one of the
co-chairman’s of the ICSCU-2005 summerised the four day meet. During
the last four days 44 Parellel Technical Sessions, 50 invited talks, 3
tutorials, one panel discussion and one special session held, he
informed. Further he elaborated that they received 123 papers from
students and 197 papers from Academecia and Research Scholars.
In the invited talks eminent speakers like Prof. Pradeep Khosla,
Director of CyLab, Carnegie-Mellon University of USA; Prof Sethuraman
Panchanathan from Arizona State University, USA and Mr. Manya Srinivas,
Professor from Massachussettes Institute of Technology spoke, informed
Mr. Rao. Describing the event in nutshell he said, it was intensive
and absorbing event.
Speaking further, he added that the next year ICSCI will be held in
second half of January 2006 will have theme "Science & Technology
Revisted in the light of latest development". He also informed that
the organisers will soon be launching a journal on Systemics,
Cybernetics and Informatics which will become forum for new ideas and
concepts generated by young students, Mr. Rao informed.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Ganta Subba Rao, State Chief Information
Officer of Govt. of A.P said government is actively promoting
experimentation in these specialised areas. And congratulated the
organisers for conducting an elaborative seminar on such an area of
high specialisation. Prof Sethuraman Panchanathan from Arizona State
University said the conference had focused more on students as
students are always backbone for research.
Sessions on subjects like "Design and Fabrication of Satellite
Operated Robot Using Embedded System", "Bridging Digital Divide by
making multilingual, Multimedia e-centre", "Economic Load dispatch
using Genetic Algorithm" , "Bearing Accuracy Analysis for Precisio
Approach Aircraft Landing Applications’ etc and others were held
during the four day meet.
Mr. CLN Gandhi and Ganta Subba Rao and Dr. Claudio Moraga gave away
mementoes and certificates to participants and conference organisers
including student volunteers.
Professor Sethuraman appreciated the presentation of Mr. Ganesh, a
student participant for his papers.
The well known mimicry artist Mr. Harikishan enthralled audience with
his voice manipulation skill. Many foreign delegates including Prof.
Claudio Moraga were impressed with his performance. For a refreshing
change Mr. Harikishan gave his performance in English.
About 400 delegates participated in the meet. The organisers have
received 500 research papers from across the globe out of which around
70 papers received from Indian Institute of Technology(IIT), Indian
Institute of Science and other reputed institutions. Around 20 papers
were received from USA, Australia, Canada, Japan, Germany, Malaysia,
Sweden, Korea and China.
The Conference was Organised by Pentagram Research Centre in quick
succession for the second time in the row. And hopes to organise next
year as well.
