Hyderabad, October '04: India's largest
mobile services provider, Reliance Infocomm, has begun migrating its
Andhra Pradesh subscribers to an exclusive 10-digit series beginning
with 93.
This is being done in keeping with the cellular mobile numbering plan in India under the new Unified License Regime, and it comes close on the heels of the successful implementation of migration to 93 in Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. The migration to 93 series is under process in Kerala and Orissa. With this, RIM subscribers in A.P. can now call each other by dialing the new, unique ten-digit number, and do not have to prefix it with STD codes anymore. Further, fixed-line callers in the State will no longer need STD facility when calling the new 93 RIM numbers within A.P. "Migration to the new 93-series is being done in a phased manner across the country. All our RIM subscribers - Postpaid and Prepaid - will soon have new ten-digit numbers. To make this transition convenient for our subscribers, we have ensured that they will continue to receive messages and calls to their old numbers till November 30,2004" said Inder Bajaj, Head Special Projects at Reliance Infocomm. Subscribers are being proactively advised about their new ten-digit numbers through telephonic calls and messages, apart from the mailers and press advertisements. New-number information is also being made available in many customer friendly ways like: " Reliance's automated enquiry numbers (30338888) " Directly through the RIM handsets using R-World " Or the Website www.relianceinfo.com The number change does not affect the prevailing tariff plans nor is it applicable to Reliance Fixed Wireless Phones subscribers. Reliance Infocomm Ltd., a Reliance group company, is India's largest mobile service provider with over 8.5 million customers. Reliance Infocomm has established a pan-India, high capacity, integrated (wireless and wire-line) and convergent (voice, data and video) digital network, to offer services spanning the entire Infocomm value chain - infrastructure, services for enterprises and individuals, applications and consulting.
