A.P AND M.P. TO SHARE CENTRE-STAGE AT DAVOS


Taking the tasks ahead to foster investments into their respective states, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Mr. Digvijay Singh, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh would be participating in a big way at the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum. The Chief Ministers would be leading high power delegations from their states and would be networking with the senior representatives from the IT sector, Financial institutions, Mining industry, Tourism, educational institutes among others in Davos. This was stated in a press release issued by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) .

While the state of Madhya Pradesh is relentlessly moving ahead to create an enabling infrastructure for the foreign investors, Mr Digvijay Singh, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, would be presenting his state's perspective at the Asia Networking Dinner on 27th January. Mr Singh in a session entitled "A Glass Half Empty" would elaborate on sustainable water management and would focus on the need for better government policies pertaining to the same. Other speakers addressing the session are Mr Maritta R. von 
Bieberstein Koch-Wester, Director-General, The World Conservation Union; Mr Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, CEO, Nestle, Switzerland among others.

Mr Singh would also share his views on the investments into emerging markets with special reference to India at a session on "Emerging Markets : Hard Times Ahead?" 

Mr Digvijay Singh would be meeting highest level representatives of banking institutions such as Industrial Bank of Japan Ltd; Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey; Taib Bank EC of Bahrain; Inter-Europe bank RT; Allied Irish Banks Plc.(AIB) and Raiffeisen Zentral Bank Oesterreich AG (RZB) in his course of visit.

The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh is also scheduled to meet Prof Goran Grosskopf, Chairman of the Board, Tetra Level Group of Switzerland and Mr David Lakobachvili, Chairman of the Board of Directors, WIMM-BILL-DANN of Russia. Bestowed with a special honour of being invited the third time for the Annual Meeting, Mr Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, would reach out to business communities from around the world during the summit and initiate new business contacts. Mr Naidu would spell out Entrepreneurship in a session during the summit and present the India in view on the different models of entrepreneuship and the influence of national culture on entreprenership. Mr Naidu - renowned for his leadership in the field of IT would share his views on how Andhra Pradesh was following the E-governance patterns in a session on "E-Government : The Next Revolution?". Other speakers addressing the session are Mr Robert Carr, Premier of New South Wales, Australia, Mr George Pataki, Governor of New York, USA among others. Mr Naidu would share his state perspective at the Asia Networking Dinner.

In keeping with his ambition to develop Andhra Pradesh as the knowledge state, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister would be meeting Mr. Michael S Dell, Chairman of the board and Chief Executive Officer, Dell Computer Corporation, USA and Mr. Carleton S Fiorina, President and CEO, Hewlett-Packard Company, USA during his visit to Davos. He is also slated to meet Mr. Ulrich L Bettermann, President and Chairman of the Board, OBO Bettermann GMBH & Co of Germany.

Mr Naidu believes that global networking and partnerships provide the best route for India's own economic and industrial development. In the course of his visit, Mr Naidu is also scheduled to have one-to-one meetings with Mr Keith Whitson, Group Chief Executive, HSBC Holdings Plc., UK and Mr Philip M Condit, Chairman and CEO of the Boeing Company, USA.

Both Mr Naidu and Mr Singh would also be networking with renowned think tanks and representatives of the Harvard University, Prof. Jeffrey D Sachs and Mr Paul Saffo.
