Hyderabad:Indian School of Business (ISB), India’s global business school, announced that it would launch its one year post graduate programme in management on July 1, 2001.
The vision of the ISB is to build a world class institution that will develop future business leaders. The school intends to do this through its affiliations with leading business schools, high caliber faculty and students, holistic curriculum and state-of-the-art infrastructure.

The ISB is affiliated with Wharton, Kellogg and the London Business School. These schools have helped in the formulation of the curriculum, faculty recruitment and student selection. The affiliates also provide visiting faculty and will help establish research centers. In fact, the Deans of ISB, Kellogg and Wharton will sign the ISB graduation certificate.
The ISB faculty is a combination of both permanent and visiting. The permanent faculty that forms the core of the school will help build its research capabilities. The visiting faculty, drawn from schools such as Stanford, Harvard, Wharton, Kellogg, University of Chicago, Duke and London Business School, comprises a global mix of academics to ensure continuous exposure to international insights, thinking and research.
The ISB’s first batch of 130 students has an average GMAT score of 690 and work experience of 4.5 years. The average age of the batch is 26 years. The diverse student body comes from a range of leading companies such as Accenture, Citibank, Arthur Andersen, G E Capital, Hindustan Lever Limited, Hewlett-Packard, ICICI, Infosys, ITC, Jardine Fleming, Sap Labs, Reliance, Wipro and Satyam. The students of the ISB postgraduate programme in management are comparable to students from leading business schools across the world.
The ISB curriculum is focused on equipping its students to meet the needs of the emerging global market. It is divided into 8 terms of five weeks each and offers students specialisation in technology, entrepreneurship, analytical finance and strategic marketing. The ISB approach is one of holistic development. Apart from instilling knowledge, ISB will focus on building the personal skills of its students by inculcating workplace imperatives such as teamwork, communication and leadership. The ISB experience will be further enriched through exchange programmes with leading business schools, live consulting projects as well as opportunities to organise and participate in various on-campus events.
The ISB campus in Hyderabad is spread over 250 acres. Each teaching environment will be equipped with state-of-the art video projection and audio playback facilities. All computers on the ISB campus will have access to the LAN and the Internet at any location. This fully wired environment will allow students to interact by computer or video link with business leaders, faculty and students across the world and ensure a truly seamless learning experience. Students will be housed in "Student Villages" that can accommodate single and married students. These villages are designed to create a sense of community and facilitate out-of-class interaction.
The ISB aspires to create synergies between India, Asia and the global business environment through creating a world community. It will teach its students how to harness the forces of technology and entrepreneurship and capitalise on the opportunities of the global economy. What ISB seeks to produce are not capable management graduates but true global business leaders.
