Hyderabad, June, 2004:
For the second year in a row, McDowell’s Signature, the new sign of
success has extended its support to Boniface Prabhu. This association has
made it possible for the only Indian representation - Boniface Prabhu - at
the 2004 French Open Wheelchair Tennis Championship. The tournament will
be held in France from June 27 - July 4, 2004. This year, McDowell’s
Signature will also sponsor Boniface Prabhu to participate in the 2004
Dutch Open Wheelchair Tennis Championship to be held in Amsterdam from
July 5 - July 10, 2004.
Boniface Prabhu is the first Indian quad wheelchair tennis player to win
the singles title in 2004 Florida Open Wheelchair Tennis Championship and
was the runner up in US Open, Sydney Open, New Zealand Open and Australian
Open in 2003.
G Balasubramanian, Controller-Marketing, UB Group Spirits Division said,
“Boniface exemplifies the new sign of success as he has overcome severe
odds to make it big in the international sporting arena. McDowell’s
Signature has always backed the winning spirit and sponsoring Boniface is
in line with the key attributes of the brand.”
“The association with McDowell’s Signature is an old one. More than the
financial assistance, which makes my participation possible, I am thankful
for the continuous encouragement I have received from the McDowell
Signature team. This is the Grand Slam and it doesn’t get bigger than
this. Compared to last year I am expecting even tougher competition as
this is the paralympic year. The popularity of the sport has caught on
internationally as the participation has almost doubled to over 300
players from over 40 countries. I am anticipating everyone to put in that
extra effort to qualify for the paralympic games to be held in September
2004.”
Anticipating the upcoming challenge Boniface said, “I anticipate US, UK,
Netherlands, Germany, Israel and Japan to be the toughest opponent but am
very hopeful of a good performance for my country.”
Offering his best wishes to Boniface, Rohan Bopanna said, “He has done
India proud already in tennis courts across the world. We hope he is able
to swing it even further at the forthcoming 2004 French and Dutch
Wheelchair Tennis Championship.”
McDowell’s Signature has always been associated with those who appreciate
the finer things in life. Just as McDowell’s Signature has chosen to
promote Golf to stimulate the physical side of its core audience, it has
brought intellectual stimulation through McDowell’s Signature TheatreFest
and McDowell’s Signature Success Series. Signature Events have become part
of refined lifestyles and certainly, the new sign of success.
