Reliance WebWorld organises AP’s First Ever Mega Multi-Player Online Gaming tournament

Hyderabad, October : 2004: Driven by objective of giving fillip to the gaming community and to bring real broadband experience to neighbourhood, Reliance WebWorld announces AP’s first ever mega Multi-player Multi-Location Online Gaming tournament. The tournament will be held simultaneously at ten Reliance Web Worlds in Hyderabad, two from Vijayawada and one each from Visakhapatnam, Guntur and Warangal.

 ”We are very happy to announce the first ever mega Multi-player Multi Location Online Gaming tournament designed to reach out to gaming enthusiasts in Andhra Pradesh. Till date over 500 gaming enthusiasts have registered for this action-packed thrilling adventure and we are expecting more registrations as the event moves on,” said Mr. R Balachandran, CEO Reliance Infocomm Andhra Pradesh Circle.

 Over next three weeks, participants will compete in five different Multiplayer Online games including Age of Mythology, Counter Strike, Need for Speed, FIFA and Unreal Tournament. Registration is open for all for a fee of Rs.50 per participant. The first leg of tournaments will be held between October 05 and October 24 with the semi finals and finals being held later. The Winners will be awarded individual trophies and a team shield for the best team and lots of other exciting gifts.

 “We have seen a surge in casual walk-ins from all age groups - teenagers, young executives as well as families - to Web Worlds in search of activity and new age entertainment. Multiplayer On-line gaming is one of the most popular broadband applications. Reliance WebWorld features Real Broadband facility offering data speeds of up to 768 kbps that gives a whole new meaning to multi-location, multi-player online gaming,” Said Mr. Bhupesh Dinger, Circle Head - AP, Reliance WebWorld.

 At the Reliance WebWorlds one can feel the power of Real Broadband via its bandwidth hogging applications like Video Conferencing, which was put to good use this Rakshabandhan where brothers and sisters could meet each other at a very nominal price. The Digital Imaging desk at each WebWorlds also lends expression to creativity manifested in T-shirt transfer, scanning, prints from digital devices and a whole host of magical services.

 Reliance WebWorld is a nationwide chain of retail stores for digital entertainment and communication and will serve as a one-stop-shop for Reliance Infocomm products and services. Each store is planned for three key modules – a Customer Convenience Center, JAVAGREEN a gourmet coffee bar and a Real Broadband Center. Broadband Center showcases Broadband connectivity through applications like Video Chat and Conferencing, Multiplayer Online Gaming, Digital personalized music, Digital theatre, Digital photo imaging, Virtual office and Real Broadband high speed internet surfing – about 100 times faster than the dial up access in available today in homes. Broadband centers are available in 14 cities and soon will be available in over a 100 towns all over India. Currently, 250 Reliance WebWorlds are operational across the country, which will progressively be extended to nearly 2000 stores across 600 cities.
