Expands with an outlet at Banjara Hills, plans to add five more in city and to expand to Bangalore in near future
 

Hyderabad,May 2007: OFEN, city based India’s first-of-its-kind delectably European Bakery, Patisserie and all day cafe with unique features and concepts of the Swiss Army Mobile Baking Wagon, the one of its kind in Asia is on expansion spree. Comes out with OFEN EXPRESS, a coffee shop in Alcazar Plaza & Towers, opposite City Centre on Road No. 1 at Banjara Hills. It will be formally inaugurated in April by a well known socialite Ms. Pinky Reddy.

With this new outlet, Ofen kicks off its expansion plans and would like to add another four to five similar outlets one each at Secunderabad, Hightech City, Kompally and two other places in city in the next two years. Also on the anvil is plans to expand to Bangalore. Once that happens, Ofen will be the first city based Bakery & Confectionary to expand outside Andhra Pradesh.

Two years since Ofen came up with the first outlet in Banjara Hills, the place has really picked up well. And today it enjoys lot of brand value. Hence, realising this we want to expand fast. But, the route adapted for this expansion is Hybrid Franchisee-Partnership Model. Ofen Express is the first outlet of OFEN in a prime place, centrally located in the Alcazar Plaza & Towers, on Road no 1 Banjara Hills, in a 1200 sft area and caters to the niche clientele in and around the area, informed Mr. Zain Ravdjee, Partner Ofen Express. Alcazar Towers offers ample parking space and is the first to have multi storey(3 stories) parking enabled by a car lift.

Bakery industryIndia is the largest of the food industries with an annual. turnover of about Rs. 3000 crores. The bakery products market in twin cities is estimated to be anywhere around Rs 75 to 100 crore. The annual production of bakery products which includes bread, biscuits, pastries, cakes, buns, etc is estimated to be 50 lakh tonnes. This offers a huge opportunity to Ofen as a home grown brand. We will certainly expand, but, slowly and steadily, informed Ms. Mukti Bosco.

The two major bakery industries, viz., bread and biscuit account for about 82 per cent of the total bakery products. The organised sector has a market share of 45 per cent and the balance 55 per cent is with the unorganised sector in the baked products. Local manufacturers with numerous local brands and products cater to populous segment and contribute considerably in the bread segment. Brand loyalty one of the main drivers of growth. Hence we want to leverage the brand Ofen.

Ofen brought to city, in 2005, for the first time a Swiss baking wagon with unique technique it was the talk of the town. And was an instant success. It acquired a Swiss military bakery wagon which can make 600 to 700 breads an hour with different cabins for different temperatures. It’s a self contained bakery with an oven, a water pump, its own water tank, water heater and water purifier. It also has a dough mixer in it. The unique thing about this is it is fired by fire wood and can also run on charcoal.
