Tourism Development
opportunities are immense in Andhra Pradesh. The
spirit of tourism policy is clear in its saying
"BRING THE WORLD TO AP AND TAKE AP TO THE
WORLD". The World Tourism Organization and
other internationally reputed tourism consultants
like PKF World wide, Mr Charles Correa, M/s KPMG
have made detailed studies and identified
potential tourism projects for private investment.
The Infrastructure investment in the Tourism
Projects for the next 10 years would be around US
$ 60 Billion or Rs. 2,52,000 crores. The
identified clusters for Tourism include Hyderabad,
Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Anantapur
& Nellore which need to be linked by
transportation corridors.
The Tourism Policy has been built upon

heritage tourism of the State
Pilgrim tourism;
- Developing
Buddhist circuit and Buddhist sites;
- Beach
tourism;
- Eco tourism;
&
- Leisure
tourism.

and the Necklace road awaiting private

Pro-active steps by
the Government
1. The cost involved in the preparatory work for
the identified projects including Infrastructure
Development will be met by the State Govt.
2. Investment subsidy for all tourism ventures
above the investment Rs. 20 lakhs in capital
expenditure will be eligible for 20% investment
subsidy subject to a maximum of Rs. 20 lakhs.
3. Rebate on power bills for 3 years for New
Hotels/Star Hotels/Restaurants.
4. Large projects above additional US $ investment
any where in the State will be treated as special
projects and special incentives will be given on
case to case basis.
5. Land will be provided on lease basis.
6. Tourism department will assist in obtaining
clearances wherever required.
New Projects on the Anvil
An International Convention Centre on par with
SUNTECS Center of Hongkong & Singapore to come
up on the 25 acre land close to Necklace road. The
other projects looking for investment include
floating restaurant, music and laser links and
lighting shows, night safari park, Family
entertainment centre, International sports
village, Amusement park, visitors zone at Tirupati,
India International Centre, ocean world, Disney
land, Imax theatre, Food courts, Shopping Malls,
Bird park at Nayaquila, water sports in
Hussainsagar, Chippada resort at Visakhapatnam,
Buddhist circuit at Visakhapatnam, ropeway at
Khailasagiri hills.
