Five professors from the Ivy League Business School have been short
listed for the coveted post of the Dean of the institute. The long-awaited announcement is expected around 28 September.
Although the school is keeping the names under wraps, the names of C.K.Prahlad and Sumantra
Ghoshal are being whispered reverently by prospective students.
Recently 21 visiting faculty were signed
on. ISB is looking at signing only five members as permanent faculty while the rest will be visiting
faculty from top US and European schools.
The students
studying in the school can expect another treat apart from the quality of its
faculty. The 14:1 student to professor ratio guarantees adequate individual attention.
ISB
has also hired a chief information officer(CIO) from a local consulting
firm. The CIO will work closely with Waveguide, a US firm, to put in systems for hi-tech distance
learning. Waveguide recently helped set up the latest American B-school,
Goizuetta Business School (named after the legendary coke CEO) at Emory University in Atlanta.
Waveguide, for instance will put up video-conferencing facilities with
acoustics that will enable anybody in the classroom to hear and be heard at equal
volume. High speed cameras will capture the movements of any student from all angles and across the huge 13,000 gross square feet ISB
amphi-theatres. Although the ISB has not advertised to solicit students in India
yet, Web marketing is already being used extensively for overseas students.
'Wharton global consulting programme' is also likely to be introduced where Wharton and ISB students will together devise business strategy for Indian
corporates.
ISB is scheduled to launch its first programme from July 2001,and its course is expected to fill in about 130 students.
Applications for ISB close 15th October
