awarness~

Hyderabad|India|Oct'2008: Andhra Pradesh and Indian students now can
seek admissions into well respected 125 years old
and USA’s 3rd safest campus, Concordia University,
Wisconsin, USA granting master’s and bachelors
degrees without TOEFL, GRE, GMAT and SAT.
"Neither the TOEFL nor the SAT is required for
admission into our program. Further, at the
graduate level, neither the GMAT nor the GRE are
required for international or domestic students.
500 Indian youth including 150 State youth who
didn’t have TOEFL, GRE, GMAT scores have applied
and got American Visas to study at Concordia
University" informed Mr. Anil Pendyala of Youth
World who is representative of the Concordia
University in Andhra Pradesh.
Founded in 1881, Concordia University is Lutherans
Missionary. It is a home to over 5,400 students
from 48 states and 38 countries from all over the
world. Out of 5400 total students, the foreign
students are just 500 and we would like to double
that number in next one year. We have been a
top-tier school by US News and World Report in the
2004 edition declared Dr. David in that letter.
Even President of USA Geroge Bush visited the
University.
To create awareness and to answer to queries of
students two member delegation of the Concordia
University Ms. Darlene Khalsa, Director of
International Student Programming and Ms. Heidi
Englebert, Coordinator of International Admissions
will be visiting Hyderabad on October 13th and
will stay in city till 15th. On 15 October, they
will address a Free Seminar from 11.30am to 2.30pm
at B.M.Birla Planetarium, Adarshnagar. Followed on
the next day they will address a Free Seminar on
October 16th at Hotel Green Park in Vishakhapatnam.
The objective this seminar is to create awarness
among the youth and students that they can get
admissions in some American Universities like
Concordia University without standard tests like
TOEFL, GRE and GMAT.
Our university places an emphasis on the grades of
the students and will accept either first or
second division students from India, informed
Concordia University’s Executive Director Office
of International Student Services Dr. David W.
Borst in a letter issued to the candidates.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. P. Anil Kumar
informed that it is the 3rd most safe campus in
USA. Our core values match that of most of Indian,
hence, they prefer our university.
The trend today in Indian education is to have
global educational qualifications. India dominates
the global demand for International education. The
number of Indian students going abroad for studies
has increased many times. Approximately 80,000
Indian students seek admissions in various US
colleges/universities every year. The trend for
obtaining foreign education is on an increase. In
fact India remained the top position in the number
of international students studying in the US for
several year in succession.
Concordia attracts about 200 Indian students of
which 150 are from Hyderabad alone.
Lakhs of Indian students every year are busy in
test preparation for standards tests like TOEFL
(Test Of English as a Foreign Language, to
evaluate the English proficiency of people for
whom English is not their native language ), GRE
(Graduate Record Examination, it gauges
undergraduate achievement in the eight
disciplines), GMAT (Graduate Management Aptitude
Test to check candidate’s verbal, mathematical and
analytical skills), SAT ( The Scholastic Aptitude
Test, that evaluates a student’s knowledge on
specific subjects).
But, off late thanks to Concordia University,
Wisconsin, they can seek admission into various
courses without standard tests such as TOEFL, GMAT,
GRE etc. And can seek admission into 48
undergraduate and graduate programs which include
Computer Science, Business Management,
Physiotherapy and many other programmes.
When asked how is that possible to give admission
without TOEFL, Anil said like us there are many
Universities, approximately 40 to 50 per cent of
them today don’t look for excellence in
proficiency. The trend is more and more
Universities and colleges are going away from
looking at rankings in these standard tests. India
is an English speaking country. Indian is the
single biggest English speaking country. Thee is
no reason to look at language proficiency in
Indian students, declared Anil
Hundreds and thousands of students in our state
write these exams every year. And spend lot of
time and money. But, very few fare very well in
these exams. Those who couldn’t score well are
disappointed lot. Now these need not worry. No
matter, irrespective of your scores or whether you
write those mandatory exams or not, you can still
seek admissions in not only Concordia University
but many other universities. But, unfortunately
many students do not know of these universities
which accommodate students without TOEFL/GRE/GMAT
and others.
Hundred of students have got admissions and VISAs
from the state of Andhra Pradesh into various
programmes of the university in the last couple of
years, informed Mr. Anil. Many students who
desirous of global undergraduation/ graduation
programmes can utilize this opportunity.
