most of the Hyderabadis will be leaving for their native places on Dussera
vacation, there is every likelyhood that burglars take advantage of this.The
Hyderabad city Police has issued the following safety tips:

HOME SAFETY
TIPS WHILE YOU ARE ON VACATION : |

Think
like a burglar. Lock your home and try
to enter your house. Then you will know
how many ways thieves can enter your
home in your absence |

Stop
all deliveries i.e. News papers, milk,
etc. |
 |
Put a
curtain from outside so that your
absence is not easily noticed. |
 |
Connect
a light to a timer if possible.( They
are available in the market) |
 |
Notify
the police patrols and sector SIs |
 |
Have a
neighbor or relative check your home
from time to time. Keep in touch with
them. |
 |
Do not
keep valuables at home. Keep valuables
in the locker of your bank. |
 |
Do not
activate answering machines of your
telephones. |
 |
Do not
reveal about your holiday trip to too
many people or talk loudly about it. |
 |
Always
hang a board in front of the gate that “
Beware of dogs” |
 |
Install
burglar alarms or activate spy cams or
web cams in an unobtrusive and tactical
location in your home if you can afford
them |

Always
plan your journey well in advance so
that you may avoid last minute hurry |

Check
all the things before you leave for
station i.e., tickets, wallet,
medicines, etc |

Don’t
carry huge cash while you are on journey |

Don’t
wear too many jewels while you are on
journey |
 |
Women
should avoid sitting by window side in
trains. They may fall prey to snatchers |
 |
You be
cautious at bus stations and railway
stations. Be careful about your wards,
luggage, and money. |

Never
trust middlemen who try to pose as
helpful guys in purchasing tickets for
you as you can not stand in those long
queues |
 |
Don’t
allow your children to speak with
strangers in trains and buses. Don’t
accept any stuff i.e. biscuits, cool
drinks, chocolates etc, from co
passengers. |

Always
travel with light luggage. |
 |
Report
any suspicious activity immediately like
persons suddenly leaving the bus
leaving their hand baggage or unclaimed
bags |
 |
Never
carry inflammables like petrol, diesel,
kerosene stoves with you. |
 |
All
tour operators and coach attendants in
the trains are requested check the
baggage thoroughly and then allow the
passengers inside the bus/train
