CM sanctions Rs 20 lakhs cash award to teenaged badminton sensation Saina Nehwal

Hyderabad,India,September 2008:The Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has sanctioned Rs. 20 lakhs cash award to teenaged badminton sensation Saina Nehwal who won the Grand Prix Gold Championship.

The Chief Minister congratulated Saina for her sterling performance and becoming the only Indian women to bag two grand prix titles ( her first was the Philippines Open in 2006).

The Hyderabadi ace was also given Rs. 5 lakhs for participating in the recently concluded Olympics. The Rs. 20 lakhs the Chief Minister awarded to Saina is in addition to the five lakhs already awarded.

The Chief Minister hoped that the Hyderabad badminton champion girl would achieve more laurels in the days to come.
