My organization has been contacted on numerous occasions via e-mail by an organization purporting to be an advocacy centre for the
disabled, and requesting our help. Because of the prevalence of online fraud, I
am always skeptical of unsolicited contact via e-mail. Too often, an e-mail is sent to a mailbox just to determine that someone reads e-mail at
that address, so that the address can be subsequently inundated with spam (unsolicited commercial e-mail). Therefore, I would like to discover
whether anyone in your neighborhood has heard of the organization in question, and what they think of it.

According to their very bare-bones website, this organization is registered under the Societies
Registration Act, Andhra Pradesh State, but I have no idea how to pull up the
registration information or how to verify that they are legitimate, i.e., that they help anyone but themselves. Can you point me toward
such a resource, especially if it is an online resource? Any guidance you can offer will be appreciated.
As to my own legitimacy, about which you may well be wondering, the organization for which I work is easy to look up, and is a member of a
large, well-known alliance of disabilities advocacy centers here in the USA. Our website sets forth our activities in some detail, and we are
financially supported by a number of large corporations and governmental institutions, and are housed in a public school in downtown
Charlotte, NC. Although we are an independent nonprofit organization, our ties to
the community are very close. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system provides both our floor space (free of charge), and the salary of our
Executive Director.
