Rains : Rumours galore. Massive evacuation on
Hyderabad city never had it so bad. Just one night's rain has brought the entire city to
a halt. As if the rains were not enough, there was enough panic in the entire city as
rumors spread around that the Tank Bund was going to break apart and that the entire city would be
submerged. People were seen running for safer places and many shops closed down .The situation was more or less similar to the
rumours which rose up couples of decades back about the breach of
Gandipet.
What triggered the rumours was a breach to the Fox Sagar tank near Jeedimatla and reports about the Langer Houz tank developing a
breach. The breach to the Foxsagar tank is reported to have affected over 20 colonies in the
Qutubullapur-Jeedimetla-Balanagar area. About 500 Army personnel have been pressed into service to bridge the breach in the
Fox Sagar bund.
Three days after the nightmare, the city is slowly waking up to the aftermath of the
havoc which has destroyed property worth crores and the damages and
casualties are rising up as the reports
come by slowly. This is the first time that the city is witnessing such a destruction in its entire 400 years history and has indeed
sent alarming bells to one and all about the illegal encroachment all over the city which have forced the water to take its own course all over.
Even though heavy rains were predicted after the havoc, it was a
saving grace that except for some
slight drizzling here and there ,the city has not yet so far been hit by
further heavy rains. Reachout's
