Hyderabad returns to Normalcy
Hyderabad has returned to normalcy after last week's eventful turn of events. First it was the rain that brought havoc to the city and then it was
the shoot out of some agitators that almost created
a riot in the city. The subsequent bandh called by the opposition parties passed off
peacefully with out any untoward incidents in the city.
The city roads are in an absolute mess and 84 sanitation teams has been asked to
take up engineering works like filling up potholes on main roads. The state government
is preparing an action plan to protect the lake beds, drains and other water sources in and
around the city. The encroachers of the water bodies would be dealt ruthlessly.
The Hussainsagar drain would also be rid of all encroachments and protection walls
would be built to ward off the problem of inundation of colonies. All the nalas
in the city would also be widened for free flow of excess water from the surrounding
lakes.
From the Fox Sagar front ,the news is that after four days of sustained efforts, the
breaches to Fox Sagar, which threatened to inundate several villages in
Qutubullahpur, were plugged in. Hectic work is still going on at the site with workers filling soil over the sand and cement bags and
leveling it.
It is reported that an amount of Rs 2.25 crore had been disbursed to 26,020 persons,
whose houses were damaged and 5,289 quintals of rice was distributed to 26,447
families. The Municipal corporation has pressed 152 medical teams into service to prevent outbreak of
epidemics.
