The fact that Hyderabad
is now known as Cyberabad speaks volumes of this city's
association with computers. Hyderabad has the largest number of computer training institutes in India which has provided a vast number of computer professionals. No wonder that almost 25% of computer professionals in USA are from Hyderabad. The Hitec City of Madhapur in Hyderabad developed by L&T group is considered to be the largest techno part of its kind in Asia. Already software giants like Microsoft, IBM, Metamor, and Oracle have set up their Indian offices in the HiTec city, more famously called the Cyber towers. India's own software giants like Satyam computers are based in Hyderabad. Looking at the tremendous increase in the software development centers, it was but natural for Hyderabad for this Blue-chip city to be a home to the first Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), an autonomous industry-managed and funded center for excellence in Information Technology education. Regarding internet, it has truly arrived in Hyderabad. Out of the total internet users in Andhra Pradesh, 98% of them are from Hyderabad and there is a steady rise of 20% internet users every month. Looking at this rate Hyderabad is soon going to have more internet cafes than our old and traditional Irani cafes. An amazing 100 odd internet cafes have sprung up in the Twin Cities in less than a year. Hyderabad has got its own ISPs and one can log on to internet through VSNL, Satyam Online, and the recently launched Southern Online services. More national and international ISPs are contending for a place in Hyderabad. |
