Nandipet becomes the first village in AP to get Internet 

Nandipet mandal which is about 35Km from Nizamabad has become the state's first village to get Internet. The District Collector,Mr.Shashank Goel launched the Internet in the gram Panchayat office. The need for having the Internet was felt by the villagers themselves as many of the village youth are working in the Gulf and other foreign countries and what better way than the net to be in touch. An e-mail ID address going by the name of siddapur@yahoo.com was created to enable the expatriates to send their
mails to the relatives immediately. To announce to the outside world of their achievement, the very first mail  was sent to none other then the CEO of Cyberabad,Mr.Chandrababu Naidu.

Bus Services in the Twin Cities to go Hi-tech

Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation(APSRTC) will soon introduce "Advance Vehicle and Passenger Information System" in the Twin cities. An electronic display board will provide all information pertaining to arrival, departure of a bus besides the likely time it would touch a particulate depot. APSRTC will be the first public transport undertaking in the country to introduce this system. Such a system is also operational in Beijing and Australia. 

APSRTC has plans to introduce the system for Vijayawada, Vishakapatnam , Rajamundry , Warangal , Guntur and there by cover 207 depots , 485 bus stations and thousands of bus stops. The work of the project, which cost's Rs 4.3 crore, is already in progress. APSRTC will use Micro-wave link for this system in the city and satellite link in other parts of the state.

Mee Kosam launched in the City

A Citizens Electronic Display Board, 'Mee Kosam' has been launched at the NTR Gardens, on the Buddha Purnima road by the Chief Minister . These kind of electronic boards which are proposed to come up through out the state would display latest information and details about how the government is  functioning.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister , Mr.Chandra Babu Naidu mentioned that the state government was ahead of others in the country in bringing the officials and the Chief minister nearer to the people.

The display boards in future would beam not only messages and information about welfare programs but also constructive entertainment programs.

 


A Firm called 'AP First' to be formed shortly(JAN 21)

The Chief Minister, Mr.N.Chandra Babu Naidu has announced that a firm called 'AP First' was going to be formed with eminent persons like Mr.NarayanaMurthy of Infosys,Mr Ramalinga Raju of Satyam COmputers and Mr.Premji of Wipro,among others , to keep Andhra Pradesh in the top position in the Information Technology Field . Infact eminent IT Professionals have agreed to be on the board of 'AP First'

 

Twin cities to Launch TWINS(JAN 4)

Twin Cities Integrated Network System (TWINS) , the one stop shop for all the needs of a common man is all set to take off in Hyderabad.
The first- of-its-kind project involving 6 departments and 18 services of the Government will facilitate a single window service outlet for the citizens of the state.

Using IT as a tool, TWINS will allow people to pay Eletricity Bills, Phone and Water Bills, and obtain Caste certificates at one point.

This is a major step twoards acheiving Smart Government which otherwise would take days for the citizens, runniung around from department to department.

The Scheme is soon to be extended to other areas of the state and will be placed on the Internet for the people to access them from their homes.

ERICSSON OPENS SOFTWARE DESIGN CENTRE

 

Ericsson inaugurated its software design centre here which would be developing software for Ericsson's new generation Internet and datacom networking products worldwide. This is Ericssons second center in India.

The Hyderabad facility would be involved in software development for products like Network management and core product development for state-of the- art networking products such as Routers, Remote access servers, Frame relay and ATM switches, Cable Modem, Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Limeades) and Voice over Internet Protocol(VOIP).

Ericsson is in the process of widening its presence in India and make Hyderabad and India an integral hub for Ericssons R&D efforts worldwide.

Hyderabad to be Linked to 25 District Headquarters (Nov 15)

 


Chandrababu Naidu recently launched the Andhra Pradesh State Wide Area Network (APSWAN),linking the State capital Hyderabad with 25 district headquarters and development centers over high speed(2mbps(lines).This is one of its Kind in the entire country. The APSWAN is going to be a backbone network for voice ,data and Video communications throughout the State. To be undertaken in a phased manner, in the first phase Hyderabad will be linked withVijayawada, Tirupati and 23 District headquarters using fiber optic link. This multi services Network will help in establishing a high speed information highway enabling fast and efficient movement of information. Features of this Multi-services Network Bringing Governance closer to the people it governs Fostering growth centered and more importantly people centered governance. Creating a Multi Media services network that will be the backbone of all networks including the intranets, extranets and the Internet. A multimedia network to carry data, video and voice of the people for the people. A multimedia network to catalyze the growth in the state through
information technology. A Multimedia network ushering in information Technology for the good of the people it serves. This Network has been undertaken by United Telecom Limited. 

Army Institute of Information Technology coming up in Hyderabad

 
With the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) headquartered in Hyderabad, here comes the announcement that Secunderabad would be the base for establishing the Army Institute of Information Technology (AIIT). This has been announced recently by Lt. Gen.D.B.Singh , Commandant of the military college of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. The Institute will train commissioned officers who would be able to use information technology for the army needs. AIIT is yet another in the cap for AP's initiatives in the field of Information Technology.

Knowledge Park in Hyderabad:OCT:28

The ICICI Knowledge park which will make a platform for Indian and Foreign companies to do business driven Research and Development has been established near Shamirpet.This Knowledge park is to be linked with other research centers in the country. The park is been funded by the ICICI while the state government donated 200 acres of land .

Metamor Established in HiTech City :OCT 29:

Metamor Global Solutions, a subsidiary of Metamor World Wide has set up its facility on the entire eighth floor of 'Cyber Towers' at a cost of Rs 17 crores.Infact Metamor incidentally has been the first company to have purchased space in Cyber Towers.

AP Government Announces I.T Package:Sep-99

The AP Govt has announced an incentive package for the IT Industry which hopes to accelerate its growth in the state with Hyderabad in particular. The IT Software Industry is exempted from the purview of AP Pollution Control Act and Statutory power cuts. Also the computer software have been 'totally exempted ' from payment of Sales tax ,and from zoning regulations . Along with these the industry is allowed self certification on other Acts/regulations like Factories Act, Employment Exchange, Wages act, Contract Labor Act ESI etc.

Rebate permissions are given to run a three-shift operations for the IT Software industry, the cost of land allowed to an IT Unit is Rs 20,000 per Job Created. This will be applicable in respect of lands by government. For IT infrastructure companies establishing companies on private/govt lands , concessions in the form of rebate on registration and transfer of property charges and exemption from stamp duty are included.
