Nandipet becomes the first village in AP to get Internet Nandipet mandal which is about 35Km from Nizamabad has become the state's
first village to get Internet. The District Collector,Mr.Shashank Goel launched the Internet in the gram Panchayat
office. The need for having the Internet was felt by the villagers themselves as many of the village
youth are working in the Gulf and other foreign countries and what better
way than the net to be in touch. An e-mail ID address going by the name of

Bus Services in the Twin Cities to go Hi-tech

Transport Corporation(APSRTC) will soon introduce "Advance Vehicle and Passenger Information System" in the Twin cities. An electronic
display board will provide all information pertaining to arrival, departure of a bus besides the likely time it would touch a
particulate depot. APSRTC will be the first public transport undertaking in the country to introduce this system. Such a system is also operational in Beijing and Australia. APSRTC has plans to introduce the system for Vijayawada, Vishakapatnam , Rajamundry , Warangal , Guntur and there by cover 207 depots , 485 bus stations and thousands of bus stops. The work of the project, which cost's Rs 4.3 crore, is already in progress. APSRTC will use Micro-wave link for this system in the city and satellite link in other parts of the state. |

ERICSSON OPENS SOFTWARE DESIGN CENTRE
| Ericsson inaugurated its software design
centre here which would be developing software for
Ericsson's new generation Internet and datacom networking
products worldwide. This is Ericssons second center in
India. The Hyderabad facility would be involved in software development for products like Network management and core product development for state-of the- art networking products such as Routers, Remote access servers, Frame relay and ATM switches, Cable Modem, Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Limeades) and Voice over Internet Protocol(VOIP). Ericsson is in the process of widening its presence in India and make Hyderabad and India an integral hub for Ericssons R&D efforts worldwide. |

AP Government Announces I.T Package:Sep-99 The AP Govt has announced an incentive package for the IT Industry which hopes to accelerate its growth in the state with Hyderabad in particular. The IT Software Industry is exempted from the purview of AP Pollution Control Act and Statutory power cuts. Also the computer software have been 'totally exempted ' from payment of Sales tax ,and from zoning regulations . Along with these the industry is allowed self certification on other Acts/regulations like Factories Act, Employment Exchange, Wages act, Contract Labor Act ESI etc. Rebate permissions are given to run a three-shift operations for the IT Software industry, the cost of land allowed to an IT Unit is Rs 20,000 per Job Created. This will be applicable in respect of lands by government. For IT infrastructure companies establishing companies on private/govt lands , concessions in the form of rebate on registration and transfer of property charges and exemption from stamp duty are included. |
