By the end of this year a Hyderabad based company will have the distinction of making and marketing globally the first made-in-India chip. Semiconductor Technology(MosChip),which specializes in the design, manufacture and marketing of integrated circiuts(IC),plans to design and manufacture ICs for high speed data communication and interconnectivity applications.MosChip is set to roll out its first product, a standard in-put-output communication product, by December this year.

The first order is being executed for Netmos,a California based company.Moschip has in house expertise in the design and marketing of chips and has an arrangement with UMS of Taiwan for production

The Company plans to market its products in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.MosChip,set up in Hyderabad in 1999,has opened a center in Noida and are looking at Chennai and Bangalore for expansion. The company was looking at strategic alliance for marketing and disribution.The company is at acquiring technologically strong companies to boost its market share.

The Hyderabad based company has already raised Rs.7.5 crores.Of this, the promoters have contributed Rs.6 crore,while the balance has been funded by APIDC VCL,a venture capital fund .The company is exploring various finance routes including an IPO,to raise Rs.5 crores to fund 
expansion. Unlike other semiconductor companies in India which designs Ics for their parent companies,MosChip will be the first Indian company to market ICs globally from India.
