JP Mobile inks deal with Nokia
 

Hyderabad, January , 2003:  JP Mobileä, Inc., a leading software provider that extends and manages corporate data on handhelds and the parent company of JP Mobile India Limited, today announced an agreement with Nokia to make its SureWaveä software available on the in-box CD shipped with every Nokia 9290 Communicator. The SureWave software will enable secure, synchronized access to enterprise applications like Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino groupware on the Nokia 9290 Communicator when used with JP Mobile’s SureWave Enterprise Server. The SureWave software is expected to ship with the Nokia 9290 Communicators in the first half of 2003.

SureWave is based on open standards like SyncML and provides behind-the-firewall centralized management of corporate data on handhelds. The solution allows audits to be generated, such as listing the people with handheld access to corporate data and identifying the specific applications they can access. SureWave also simplifies administration of corporate security policies for handhelds by incorporating features that can be implemented on the fly from anywhere in the world. These include instant quarantines of handhelds and their users when handhelds are lost.

Nokia 9290 Communicator
The Nokia 9290 Communicator is a fully integrated mobile terminal combining phone, fax, e-mail, calendar and imaging functionality. Easy data access and entry are made possible with a high resolution active matrix color display and full QWERTY keyboard, which give Nokia 9290 Communicator users a desktop feel on a mobile device. Internet access is possible via both a WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) and a HTML-based browser.
