JP Mobile Offers SureWave Mail
Multi-Device Support for Exchange and Notes
- Features industry's first over-the-air sync of e-mail, calendar, contacts, tasks -
Hyderabad, January 2001: JP Mobile, Inc., an infrastructure and applications software developer for mobile business since 1995,
announced SureWave Mail. The release makes JP Mobile the first hardware-neutral company to implement a "RIM-like" e-mail experience for Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes users on multiple devices like Palm, PocketPC, Handspring's Treo, Kyocera, Samsung and RIM. Currently in pilot with large enterprises, SureWave Mail provides real-time updates beyond e-mail ¾ for personal information management (PIM) of calendar, contacts and tasks, too.
JP Systems (India) Limited was recently acquired by JP Mobile Inc., Dallas, TX, US and will henceforth be known as JP Mobile in India too.
SureWave Mail also is the mobile industry's first Over-the-Air (OTA) synchronization product based on the new SyncML industry standard for multiple devices, platforms and networks. OTA synchronization means that professionals can send and receive e-mail and updated PIM information in real time ¾ unleashing them from the desk-based cradle. User-specified information automatically synchronizes with all user devices and the corporate server. So, for instance, when a user deletes a message from a mobile device, that message also gets deleted on the Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Notes e-mail server. Mobile professionals save significant time because they can manage their e-mail and PIM without ever having to return to their desks for a manual sync between their wireless devices and PCs.
In addition, JP Mobile's product design provides a secure environment by empowering businesses to host the solution inside the corporate firewall. By connecting mobile devices directly to SureWave Mail behind the corporate firewall, the company eliminates the need for an external hosting vendor or message center and ensures message integrity. Further, JP Mobile's software is a stronger hacker deterrent than triple DES technology alone because SureWave Mail generates a symmetric key for every transaction conducted on a wireless device. Other e-mail applications use the same key over and over until the device is synchronized through the cradle ¾ a methodology that leaves greater opportunity for intruders to discover the key and gain access to corporate data.
SureWave Mail is the first in a series of applications launched on top of JP Mobile's J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) compliant architecture known as SureWave Mobile Server. This platform scales to support thousands of users and extends applications like Siebel or SAP to mobile devices across wireless networks like CDMA, GSM/GPRS, CDPD and Mobitex.
"Marrying key business factors with technology standards is fundamental to how we develop our products and work with our customers," said Ananth Rao, executive vice president and CTO of JP Mobile, Inc. "We understand the business need to support a variety of mobile devices. At the same time, we recognize that investments in technology are critical in terms of ROI and ease of manageability. This unique perspective enables JP Mobile to provide the value and security businesses are seeking in mobile strategies today."
"E-mail has progressed to the point where it is an everyday necessity in business. As a basic function of modern communication, it needs to be available anywhere, on any device, and at anytime," said Iain Gillott, president and founder of iGillottResearch, a market strategy consultancy focused on the wireless and mobile industry. "Therefore, e-mail is only truly mobile when it does not depend on a single device, platform or network."
