Hyderabad, July, 2004: AirTel  has announced a strategic alliance with Micro Technologies in Andhra Pradesh to launch “Mcops” - Vehicle Black Box Security system (MicroVBB powered by Airtel M-Cop). This is the first of its kind initiative by any cellular player in the country to provide the utility service for its customers.

Mcops is available in two versions- cell base and GPS base. The “Mcops” - (MicroVBB powered by Airtel M-Cop) system has the features such as intrusion detection, audio alert, visual alert, immobilization confirmation and two-way communication. The Intrusion Detection Security (IDS) System enables car owners to detect any unauthorized access to ones own car. The disturbance created, enables the “Mcops” - (MicroVBB powered by Airtel M-Cop) system to send an instant message on the mobile/ email to the authorized user about the unauthorized access is sent to warn him of the possible intrusion or theft in his/her vehicle.

The immobilization is based on a simple SMS command that shuts off the engine of the car. For example, if a persons car is parked somewhere around the city A, and the owner of the car is in a city B. In his absence, if anyone tries to open any of the doors of the car, the “Mcops” - (MicroVBB powered by Airtel M-Cop) will immediately send a SMS alert to the owner.
