SafeScrypt introduces
Global Roaming Service for usage of Digital Signatures
Hyderabad, December , 2002:
SafeScrypt Ltd., India’s First Licensed Certifying Authority has made use of
Digital Certificates even more convenient for users with the introduction of
their new Secure Roaming Digital Certificate Service (SRDCS). With this new
service, individual or enterprise customers can securely access their
digital certificates and digitally sign transactions from virtually any
internet-enabled PC or device from anywhere in the world.
Previously, a Digital Signature could only be used from a fixed computer
terminal where the digital certificate encryption key was stored. If the
user wanted to digitally sign information from another terminal, the private
key would need to be exported onto a smart card or USB token and then loaded
onto that computer.
With this groundbreaking high technology service, it is no longer required
to operate from a fixed terminal or carry the digital key on a card for use
on a smart card reader equipped terminal. Users can be anywhere in the world
and download digital certificates and their private keys from secure
internet servers and use their digital certificates from the same device.
For enhanced security, the private key is split and stored across multiple
secure internet servers, making it impossible for intruders or malevolent
insiders to crack and manipulate the code. After the user finishes using the
digital certificate from the remote computer, the private key is destroyed
automatically, bringing in enhanced security into the digital certification
system. This roaming service is tremendously beneficial for a vast range of
uses ranging from online banking, stock trading or even sending out signed
emails from home or work PCs, Internet Kiosks etc. - anytime and anywhere.
Commenting on the introduction of this new service, Mr. K. Dasaratharaman,
Managing Director, SafeScrypt said, " We are constantly endeavoring to
provide additional solutions for our customers so that they can get the best
of security and convenience in all their E-transactions. This is one more
step in that direction."
