DS UNICS INFOTECH unveils "Unique Timetabler"
The software that builds timetables automatically, efficiently and
accurately. Saves time, energy and effort
Hyderabad, August 2003: Timetabling is
a major headache for teachers and school administrators. Infact, it is the
most stressful jobs at the beginning of a school session. Further it demands
great amount of attention, eye for details, as information required to from
different quarters like the school administration which keeps record of
admissions, infrastructure such as classrooms, seats per class and teachers
at disposal etc. Further it is complicated with increasing demand to
accommodate extracurricular activities in the school curriculum. Inspite of
all these complications, the information needs to be compiled in easily
usable format that is free of all conflicts and at the same time fulfills
the various priorities.
All schools do timetabling manually. The schedule of classes, teachers and
subjects has a powerful effect on the life of a school or college student
and if you are a timetabler you carry a heavy responsibility too.
Modern software can relieve you of much of the donkey-work of timetabling,
leaving schools with more time to apply their skills and judgement where
they are needed in order to produce a timetable of the highest quality.
Addressing a press conference, immediately after launching it, Mr. DRR
Swaroop, Managing Director of DS UNICS INFOTECH LTD declared that manual
timetabling will be a thing of past soon. Using the best available computer
algorithms, talent and resources, we developed India’s first timetabling
software, he informed. Unique Timetabler is a comprehensive and invaluable
tool that accommodates details such as teachers teaching more subjects,
subject combination, absent tutors, optional tutors, swapping periods, in
period subjects, not in period subjects, adjacent scheduling, customized
half-day definition, customization of periods for each of the class and
class teacher period. And to build this it just needs not more than 45
minutes. The process which used to take weeks to months, now is build in a
click of mouse. And above all it saves hours and hours of cross checking
time. No arduous preparations and just a sigh of relief.
Developed by a team of eight software professionals spending over 4000 man
hours, it has a base of many suggestions and comments of a large number of
users facing many timetabling situations. Developed in Visual Basic, it
provides solutions in controlling and planning teaching resources (students
and tutors) in schools, universities, colleges and conferences. It is
developed as user friendly as possible.
As one school administrator put it as ‘godsend’, timetabler has good market
potential. Andhra Pradesh alone has more than 75,000 schools, where as there
are nearly ten lakh schools all over India. 15 per cent of these schools
already have computers. And the number is increasing at the rate of 2.78 per
cent at Primary level and high school level 5.6%. Nearly 11.5 crore students
all over India are affected by timetables. Hence, there is huge potential
for this kind of product.
Priced affordably at Rs 4,000/-, it will find many takers. The initial trial
run conducted in over 20 schools in the state is any indication, it is bound
to be hot seller.
Soon the product will be made available in 20 town through select dealers in
the state and 15 distributors in other states. M/S Crescent Publications,
the publishers of one and only Telugu Computer Magazine "Computer Vignanam"
is already appointed on an exclusive basis to market the product on all over
India basis. For Indian environment, the product may look new, but there are
nearly five products with greater acceptability in over fifty countries.
Overwhelmed with initial response, the company is also exploring overseas
markets.
The product is flexible and unique with greater applicability in every
situation. Not alone school or college or an education institution, it is
targeted at every organization or institution where there are students,
classes and teachers.
