AP Govt to give further boost to IT and IT enabled services
~Plans
to set up DIGITAL CITY~
Hyderabad,India
October,2008: The Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy
decided to give further boost to IT and IT enabled services in a focussed
manner in the State. Dr Reddy today reviewed the functioning of IT and IT
enabled services at Secretariat.
For the first time in the country GOs are available on Internet:
Implementation in all departments since February 2008, All GOs available on
Internet as soon as these are issued. It is a Bench Mark in transparency and
Andhra Pradesh is the first in the country to achieve this.
eGazette: Gazette on Internet, Software development completed, Pilot
testing started in August 2008.
Citizen to Government (C2G) Interface: Grievance Management System,
Application development completed, Single system for all departments,
Interactive system, Multiple channels for filing application through
internet, Through Call Centre ( Toll Free Number 1100); Multiple Channels
for tracking status through Internet; Through Call Centre (Toll free number
1100) and through SMS
File Tracking System in Secretariat launched in 10 Departments, IT&C,
eSeva, Infra & Investment, MAUD, Home, Industries, Tourism, Energy, EFS&T
and ICAD.
State Data Centre: To house all Department Servers, Secure IT
Infrastructure and environment for which Building is under construction;
First Floor will be ready by October 2008, Project approved by GOI, Project
cost Rs. 56 Crores over 5 years and approved tender document awaited from
GOI.
AP State Wide Area Network (APSWAN): Connectivity for all Govt
offices, Hyderabad to Districts: 8 Mbps; Districts to Mandals: 2 Mbps,
Mandals to Panchayats: Wires Link; IP Based Video Conference between
Hyderabad and Districts and Project approved by GOI for Rs. 249 Crores in
August 2008; Project period: 5 Years and approved Tender Document awaited
from Government of India.
4687 Rajiv Citizen Service Centres: Contract signed in August 2008
and target is 2300 Centres in 5 months of contract signing and Balance
Centres in next 7 months.
Apprehension about IT Industry Growth and Placements. Results of first two
quarters as per expectation; $ 700 billion plus US bail out plan is expected
to create more work for the Indian BPO industry; Domestic growth of IT
industry is unabated; With refinement of overall business and marketing
strategy, industry seems to be on track in medium to long term perspective;
Promotion of I.T. Investment Region (ITIR): ITIR is a new approach
for achieving "economic development" of IT Clusters in identified regions.
ITIR concept works with "private investment" as key driver and Governments
(Centre/State) play a largely facilitating role.
Setting up of DIGITAL CITY is being considered to encourage setting
up of Animation, Gaming and Digital Entertainment companies in the State.
DIGITAL CITY will provide: Incubation Centre, Animation and Gaming Training
Institutes/Academia, Built up office Space for SME and Large
Animation/Gaming/Digital Entertainment companies. Studios and Processing
Labs, Common Amenities/Services such as Convention/Conference Centre,
Service Apartments, Hostels, Cafeteria, Business Centre, etc. and to offer
differential pricing model to support SMEs and first generation
entrepreneurs. The Chief Minister was informed that the Incubation Centre at
Tirupati will be ready by the end of October '08.
IT Minister R Damodar Reddy, Adviser. IT, C.S. Rao, Principal Secretary, IT,
S.K. Joshi and other officials attended the meeting.
