Hyderabad, November' 03:  Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC), a leading animation and special effects institute, which is a division of Maya Entertainment Ltd. MEL is a venture of noted Bollywood director Ketan Mehta (Maya Memsaab, Yeh Hai India, etc.) and actress Deepa Sahi. MEL is incidentally also providing special effects for Bollywood blockbuster “The Rising”, starring Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherjee amongst others

Equipped with the latest equipment, multimedia courseware and high tech laboratory, the centre would have a faculty drawn from the upper echelons of the entertainment industry to impart quality career oriented education. These include, besides the promoters, Biju D. the force behind the special effects of Jajantaram Mamantaram, amongst others.

Said Ms. Deepa Sahi, Director of Maya Entertainment (MEL), “We chose Hyderabad because of its serious commitment to technology and its penchant for quality cinema.” She added that the Indian animation industry is currently pegged at $550 million with 42%, 31% and 15% of its animation content in Film & Broadcast, Gaming and Web respectively. The slowing down of the U.S. economy, the emergence of new markets as well as the encroachment of 3D over the 2 D market is expected to provide India with over $2 billion worth animation business within the next three years. Maya Entertainment Ltd was formed with the specific propose of providing the latest digital technology tools for excellence in films, television and audio-visual media and create quality content for the infotainment industry worldwide.
