R Mohan presents the trials and tribulations of the Mumbai Bar girls and he succeeds in projecting a very realistic portrayal of the bad bad world of Mumbai's night life.

Tabu a poor girl after leaving her village lands in Mumbai and is forced to join Chandini Bar to dance her way for making a leaving. She reluctantly agrees to perform in front of the customers and then it so happens that she stays on there learning the tricks of the trade one by one. She comes across various types of people who come to the Chandni Bar to seek pleasure. She hears the miserable stories of the Bar girls and their hard stories console her with the thoughts that her problems are nothing in front of their miseries.

Eventually she comes across a local goonda whom she marries and has two children. Then it so happens that her husbands short temper lands him in lots of confrontations with the police and his guru's .Tabu leaves in fear worried about the family. Eventually he gets killed in an encounter and that leaves the Bar girl with her children and then the story is about how she tries to prevent her children from getting into her profession. Circumstances forces her children to take the steps of their parents while Tabu breaks down in tears...

Tabu as the Bar girl gives a splendid performance and already her performance has taken the Mumbai cine-goers by storm as the story is all about typical Mumbai life. Her performance in the role of a mother has been commendable and the 'Ruk Ruk' girl seems to have finally matured as an actress to reckon with.

Chandni Bar has no entertainment value. Nevertheless its an awakening movie for people who go out to have pleasure at the cost of thousands of Bar girls whose real stories are never revealed on their faces.
