Introducing Karan Nath and Aarti Agarwal, Dr Vilas, Bharat Dabholkar, Joy Fernandes, Howard Barneyer, Farhan Khan

It's a fast paced love story cum action drama that doesn't give viewers much time to think about what's happening. The movie starts off as a love story and turns into an intense, violent and, at times crazy drama. However, thanks to director Joy Augustine's tight editing, the fast momentum of the film workes positively into movies' favour and does not leave visitors with a bad impression.

As for the story - a rich handsome boy Sameer Malhotra (Karan Nath) falls in love with a sweet innocent girl Roma Pinto (Aarti Aggarwal), who is overly protected by her five brothers (all newcomers). Neither Roma's brothers nor Sameer's family support their love and try to separate them. The story takes a twist when a tregedy strikes. The film ends with a lot of blood and violence.

The film seems to be a perfect lauch pad for Karan Nath, who's the son of famous star-secretary Rakesh Nath. From love scenes to waterboat chase to gruesome fighting scenes - this film has all and to his credit Karan Nath has been at ease with everything throughout the film. His confidence should take him a long way. However, the other newcomer, Aarti Agarwal needs to polish up a lot more.

Amongst brothers, Dr. Vilas, Bharat Dhabolkar and Farhan Khan leave an impression.

Raju Singh's music is refreshing. The tunes are easy on the ears, but a hit score, so vital in a love story, is missing.

The action by Shyam Kaushal has been well-executed. But considering that Paagalpan is a love story, the climatic blood fest is excessive, to say the least.

Director Joy Augustine succeeds on two levels – One, he deserves full marks for extracting wonderful performances from the two newcomers and two, he has been successful in holding the audience attention throughout the second half.

The basic plot is not new, but writers Janak-Hriday's screenplay, more towards the post-interval portions, has the raw appeal to keep the viewer absorbed. The action scenes and water boat chase deserve a special mention. Cinematography is efficient at places.

All in all, Paagalpan is worth your time. The film has opened to a decent response and at the box-office window, this moderately
