Movies some say is a
'Directors medium' while some others say is the
'audience medium'. Even though Rajiv Menon has roped in the very best of Southern and northern stars to
make a Directors movie, yet it is the audience at the city's
Odeon theatre who were calling the shots for this
movie. Any guess for what? Naturally.....
'Priyuralu Pilichindi' is the dubbed version of the Tamil
film 'Kando Konden Kando Konden'.
Meenakshi (Aishwarya Rai) and Soumya (Tabu) are sisters from a Aristocratic family living in
a coastal village with their mother(Sree Vidhya) and grand parents. Their grandfather is
in his death bed and is fondly taken of by them. Tabu works as a Principal of their family
run school and she being the eldest one is on the look out for a Bridegroom but it so
happens that none of the proposals materializes for
her. Meanwhile Aishwarya Rai longs for the guy of her dreams and it is then that
Mamooty, an ex-major comes into the picture to woo her
but miserably fails to draw her attention.
A film shooting brings Manohar (Ajit) to the village and
accidentally he comes across Tabu and he falls in love with her and he peruses her till she says
'yes' and then he goes back to the city with a promise that he will marry her only after he makes his first film
. Aishwarya Rai comes across Srikanth (Abbas), a dashing entrepreneur with whom love blossoms at first sight and she finally get the man of her dreams.
At this juncture their grandfather dies and to their shock
leaves behind the entire family house and property in the name of their uncle .
Subsequently they are forced out off their house and the entire family to have no other way except to migrate to the city where
they struggle to make their living. Tabu takes up a job as a Telephone operator while her
mother works in a hotel . Aishwarya Rai in search of a job comes across Abbas who gets
forced into a alliance with a Ministers daughter to get over the crisis of his Finance
company. Aishwarya Rai is shattered and then Mammotty who comes to the city in search of her.
Meanwhile Ajit is out of touch with Tabu to complete his dream film and when his
maiden film
opens to a rousing reception, he runs to meet Tabu only to find her ready to leave to USA.
The final outcome of the movie is to see who gets whom and who loses whom.....
As far as the performance goes, Aishwarya Rai takes off from where she had
left " Hum Dil De Chuke
Hai Sanam" . Tabu excels in her role. She is
indeed a worthy successor to Shobana down south. Abbas
gets cute little role while Mammotty is a big liability for this movie.
Rajiv Menon gets in so many characters into this movie that in many a scenes he just could not
handle them all together. The editing did let down the
movie. A.R.Rahman's music will catch up
provided the movie runs for long.
If you are fed up of seeing the family soap operas on your
TV then this movie for a change can
supplement them on Big screen. And remember you got to pay for it...............
