days mission to improve the civic amenities

Reddy held a detailed review meeting with Ministers and officials on
100 days mission to improve the civic amenities and take up special
developmental activities in the GHMC area. He has directed the
officials to come up with a concrete plan within a few days so that
it could be finalised. He told the officials to chalk out plans
which are only possible to be completed in 100 days and that it
should be completed under any circumstances. He said he will also
monitor the works on a daily basis.
The Chief Minister went through the proposals of GHMC, Hyderabad
Water Works, AP Transco, HMDA, Traffic Police etc. These departments
came up with a road map for developing the facilities in 100 days.
The GHMC plans to bring about a significant improvement in waste
management and road conditions for the citizens of Hyderabad;
leverage existing approved public works with add-ons and accelerate
programs a mission model. The GHMC will bring all roads to a state
of good repair at Rs.135 crores and action plans for bitumen and
cement roads are prepared. The GHMC also plans to make the city
walking friendly and aesthetically pleasing - Rs.13.5 crores will be
spent to develop sidewalks, paint curbs and medians, paint poles,
remove overhanging wires and improve junctions.
As far as waste management is concerned, the GHMC commissioner said
that all bins will be cleaned daily at a cost of Rs.25 crores; all
trash generated to be lifted daily at least once - deploy additional
dumper places, painting and repair of all bins and sweep all roads
and deploy 150 additional sweeping units. The Commissioner informed
the Chief Minister that there are nearly 3.4 lakh street lights and
will be monitored through IT - Off-Site Real Time monitoring system
(OSRT) - use real time date and images to monitor and to complete
roll-out by January 2011. There are five zones in GHMC with 18
circles and for the 100 Days programme, all circles will be
allocated to one Additional Commissioner to oversee and monitor the
progress of different components of the 100 days programme.
The Commissioner, HMDA also explained to the Chief Minister plans
for 100 days including the completion of Outer Ring Roads,
improvement of parks, cleaning of Hussainsagar etc. The MD, CPDCL,
briefed about improving power supply in the GHMC area in the next
100 days and also tightening the loose electric wires all over the
city. He also briefed the Chief Minister about strengthening
sub-stations, call centres and also quality of power supply and
listed the 100 days plan. The Traffic Police briefed their plans to
improve the traffic in city by increasing the number of traffic
signalling system in the city by installing new traffic lights. The
Chief Minister asked these departments to come up with a final plan
for the 100 days mission in a few days.
Minister for Municipal Administration, M. Maheedhar Reddy, Ministers
from the GHMC area, Nagender, Mukesh Goud, Dr. Shankar Rao, Mayor
Banda Karthika Reddy, Lok Sabha members from City, Asaduddin Owaisi,
Anjan Kumar Yadav, Principal Secretary, MA&UD, Appa Rao,
Commissioner, GHMC, Sameer Sharma, Commissioner, HMDA, Rajeswar
Tiwari, MD, CPDCL, M T Krishna Babu, MD, HMWSSB, Jagdish and other
officials attended the meeting.
