Mega Carnival of 9th Reunion

Hyderabad|India|January'2010: A grand
gala spectacular carnival, as part of the ongoing 9th Reunion of Corps of
EME was declared open at Polo grounds, Secunderabad on 8th Jan by
Lieutenant General Ajay Kumar Singh Chandele, Director General of EME,
amidst thousands of retired and serving EME personnel and their families,
as the occasion offers them to meet each other. The mega carnival had
plethora of activities to include adventure show, know your Army
exhibition, felicitation ceremony for EME veterans who excelled in the
field of sports & adventure and a mesmerizing cultural programme. Approx
eight thousand spectators of Corps of EME and other Army personnel enjoyed
the scintillating activities presented during never before event. The
Carnival is scheduled to be open for the general public from 9th to 15th
January 2010.
The occasion was also utilized by Corps of EME as an opportunity to
exhibit its wide range of equipment ranging from small arms to mighty
Guns, Armoured tanks, Radars as part of know your Army exhibition for the
people of twin cities.
Adventure activities contained a breathtaking aerobatic display by Indian
Army’s Sarang helicopters team and skydiving by Para Commandos of the
Parachute Regiment marked the occasion. Hot Air Ballooning by EME
personnel performed in perfect sync with Para-motors, Para sails,
presenting a spectacular view in air. Highly trained Army Dogs delighted
everyone with their operational skills. EME Director General released
first day cover and also a book entitle ‘Soldiers’ Second Innings on the
occasion.
Teams of Mountaineering Expedition to Mount Mamostong Kangri (23000 feet),
Desert Safari Expedition to Thar Desert, White Water Rafting Expedition to
Holy Ganges, Ocean Sailing Expedition to Arabian Sea, were flagged in with
colourful tableau.
EME Veterans Flying Sikh Milkha SIngh, Sarbjit Singh, PS Cheema, Dhillon,
Brigadier Raj Manchanda, Sub RK Choudhary and Sub Jenil Krishnan of EME
who excelled in Sports, and Maj HPS Ahluwalia, Col JK Bajaj of the Corps
of EME who distinguished in adventure activities were felicitated on the
occasion.
Earlier, a Ceremonial parade which was the hall mark of the three day
colourful celebrations of the 9th Reunion, held at EME parade ground,
commanded by Brigadier Bibhuti Bhushan, Commandant, 1 EME Centre. Lt Gen
AKS Chandele, DGEME and Senior Colonel Commandant of Corps of EME reviewed
the parade. While addressing the troops, he congratulated everyone on this
momentous occasion and exhorted all ranks of the Corps of Electronics and
Mechanical Engineers to strive hard and maintain the high standards of the
Corps. Immaculately dressed smart soldiers with reat pride marching in
tune with Army Band displayed highest degree of discipline and were a
symbol of indomitable spirit. Suryakiran of Air Force displayed a breath
taking talents by painting the Tri colour in the sky.
