India organizes a knowledge session on
Current Economic Environment for Business

~ An insightful session by Dr. Shyamal Roy for
academia and industry heads ~

ADP Private Limited, the Indian subsidiary of U.S. based Fortune 500
company, Automatic Data Processing, Inc (ADP), organized an insightful
session on the Current Economic Environment for Business and brought
academia and industry on the same platform to discuss on the same.
ADP India specially invited an eminent academic personality Dr. Shyamal
Roy who is a Professor of Economics at the prestigious Indian Institute of
Management, Bangalore (IIM B). The program started off with a detailed
presentation and talk by Dr. Roy on the in-depth explanation of the
economic situation with which the industry is dealing in the current
times. This was followed by an interactive session with the audiences
which comprised of senior leaders of various companies and prominent
personalities from the academia. The participants found the session a
productive endeavor from ADP which gave them a common platform to share
insights on the current situation.
Commenting on the occasion Mr. Shakti Sagar, Managing Director, ADP Pvt.
Limited, said “We all are well aware of the current industry situation.
Keeping this in mind, ADP decided to take a proactive step towards
creating a platform wherein industry leaders and Academia can come
together and interact with each other on the current economic scenario. We

and sharing his valuable thoughts with us which will surely be of great
help for all of us.”
Dr. Shyamal Roy is a Professor of Economics at the Indian Institute of
Management, Bangalore (IIMB). He completed MA from Delhi University and
PhD from University of Missouri Columbia , USA . Before joining IIMB, Dr.
Roy worked in various capacities at the World Bank in Washington DC , FAO
in Rome , International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) at
Washington DC and the Brookings Institution at Washington DC .
Dr. Roy has many publications to his credit. World Bank, IFPRI, The
Brookings Institution and leading national and international journals,
have published his work. His research interest is in the area of Economic
Policy. He teaches Macro Economic Theory and International Business to
masters and Ph.D.level students at IIMB. Additionally, he lectures in
various companies on Macro-Economic Issues and provides Consultancy
services to the Corporate Sector and the Government on Policy matters. He
has held key positions in academic administration, including Dean
(Academic) and member, Board of Governors, IIMB.
