APREDA to participate in construction of houses in
the flood affected districts of the state
Public - Private Partnership for a cause
Hyderabad|India|February'2010: A.P. Real Estate Real Estate
Developers’ Association (APREDA) will sign an agreement with the Project
Directors Housing of Kurnool and Mahaboobnagar districts. The MOU will be
facilitated by A P State Housing Corporation Ltd (APSHCL) in the presence
of the State Housing Minister Silpa Mohan Reddy and the minister for Food
& Civil Supplies, Jupally Krishna Rao on 25th Feb 2010 at 4.00 p.m. in the
Secretariat. According to N K Prasad, MD, APSHCL has taken up the
construction of houses in the flood affected districts of the state as a
part of flood housing project.
APREDA will participate in the construction of 253 houses in
Peddakothiliki Village of Nandavaram Mandal in Kurnool district under the
Relocation Scheme and 440 houses in Rajole Village of Waddepally Mandal in
Mahaboobnagar district. Under the In-Situ Scheme repair and rebuilding of
existing houses will be taken up while under the Relocation scheme new
houses will be built for the victims in other areas.
“This is a unique initiative towards public private partnership for the
welfare of mankind. Housing Corporation will take up the construction of
the houses we will partly finance an assist them in overseeing the project
to ensure timely delivery and quality of construction”, said Dasharath
Reddy, Secretary General, APREDA.
In 2007 APREDA has undertaken construction of 50-houses for the Tsunami
affected victims of Prakasham district. The design and quality of
construction for the project was appreciated by the then Chief Minister Dr
Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. The project was fully financed, designed and built
by them.
“When the Association as approached by various agencies to contribute for
the flood affected victims, we thought of taking a step ahead and reach
out to the beneficiaries in partnership with the Housing Corporation.
Considering our expertise in the Real Estate and Construction Industry and
having done similar projects before, we thought of joining for a cause for
the rehabilitation of the flood affected victims of the State,” added R
Chalapathi Rao, Vice President, APREDA.
He also added, “Earlier we had planned to construct some houses fully
funded by us where as APSHCL approached us to associate with them so that
we could enhance our ambit and reach out to a larger number of
beneficiaries.” .
