APREDA to translocate 25
trees from ESI to Nanakramguda to replant

Hyderabad|India|August'2010: AP Real Estate Developer’s
Association(APREDA) under an initiative ‘Green Channel’ initiative to be
launched on Saturday to shift 20 trees from ESI premises to ‘Green Grace’
site location opposite Ramanaidu Studio on Nanakramguda Road, an Indian
Green Building Council (IGBC), Platinum Pre-certified project, promoted by
S & S Green Projects Pvt Ltd.
The Green Channel will be launched on Saturday by Sameer Sharma,
Commissioner of GHMC. Mr. UH Rao Regional Director of ESI corporation will
also grace function.
ESI Quarters has about 200 trees which needs to be cleared to accommodate
upcoming medical college.
Vijaya Sai M, Chairman, APREDA Green Channel Initiative and MD S & S Green
Projects says “we at APREDA got inspired by media reports on translocation
of trees and thought of using them in our ongoing project ‘Green Grace’.
Soon technical support for the process was identified. Subsequently in
consultation with our landscape consultant we identified 25 trees and have
got them prepared for translocation,” further adds Vijay Sai.
These five to eighty years old trees at ESI are of different varieties
including Bauhinia, Tabebuia, Peltophorum, Chinabadam, Peepal, Jackfruit,
Amla and Jamun. If someone comes forward for such a cause, they can plant
such old trees in their premises and overnight become their proud owners.
Possibilities are immense. One only needs to the will to spend somewhere
between Rs10, 000 to Rs 15,000/- per tree. It is a good preposition for
the price paid, as you are overcoming the passage of time by saving five
to eighty years that you might have otherwise taken to grow a tree. And
moreover, no nursery provides such big old trees.
“Our slogan is ‘Adopt a tree, save a tree’. Join us in the endeavour to
make the world a better place to live in. ‘Save a tree! You are the only
friend it has.’ is our mission statement,” appeals Prem Kumar, president,
APREDA on the eve of the launch of their Green Channel campaign.
Trees are renewable source of energy. GHMC and HMDA are among the
government and now APREDA is one of the non government organizations which
has come forward to trans-locate trees, that would have else been killed
like the unsung chivalry of a martyr on the battle field. Those seeking
technical assistance for translocation of trees from APREDA can contact
them at adoptatree@apreda.org
