Historic documents astounds Children
Hyderabad|India|February'2010: As part of the awareness programme
of the National treasure in form of Precious records preserved in
A.P.State Archive and research Institute, as much as 65 students of the
Tejasvi Vidyaranya School visited the Institute along with the teachers to
be enlightened by the rich heritage.
The class Vll to lX students were astonished by finding themselves amidst
50 million records ranging from 14th to 19th century pertaining to
Bahmanis, Qutubshahi, Moghals, and Asaf Jahi eras,Andhra State, Andhra
Pradesh-Madras Presidency and a large number of family and private
collections.
They had first hand glance at the original documents by the rulers of the
by-gone era. The students were on cloud nine when they had the opportunity
to witness the original letter written by Mahatma Gandhi along with his
signature in ink. The letter was addressed to Sir Akbar Hyderi, the then
Prime Minister of Hyderabad date back in 1938.
They overwhelmingly observed the significant exhibits like Coins, Seals,
Stamps, Maps of the former Hyderabad State .They visited the Library and
enjoyed the collection of rare books, autobiographies, biographies,
specialized dictionaries in Political, economic, social and cultural
history of India in English, Telugu, Persian, Urdu, Marathi are stores .
Apart from this they were informed about the functions of the Conservation
cell, Film Archives and Research room with the know how of the science of
archival keeping, procedure of research and so on.
The officials of the Institute explained about the brief history of the
previously known as Central Record office and about its holdings and its
significance.
