Digital center
for the MLAs and the MLCs inaugurated in the
Assembly premises

The Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy inaugurated the digital
center for the MLAs and the MLCs in the Assembly premises. Andhra
Pradesh is the first state in the country to digitize the Assembly
records and make them available online. It is also the first state
to start a training programme for MLC's and MLAs in the assembly
premises round the clock.
The Information Technology and Communications department conducted a
one day eGovernance leadership meet at Hotel Taj Krishna in November
2010 as part of the National eGovernance Plan capacity building. The
workshop was attended by the then Speaker of the House Sri. N. Kiran
Kumar Reddy along with over 100 MLAs and MLCs. The MLAs and MLCs
were given exposure to the eGovernance by officers from the IT&C
department and the Government of India and eminent personalities. A
digital lab was contemplated and the IT&C department was given the
task of creating a computer lab within the assembly premises before
the budget sessions.
Within the stipulated period of 3 months, the lab was created in the
space allotted by the Deputy Speaker. All legislatures can avail
this facility for training, internet browsing, seeing previous
proceedings live on the net.
The features of the lab are:
1. The lab has state of the art computers with high end display
monitors.
2. The lab is provided with 1 Mbps high speed internet dedicated
line.
3. The lab is staffed with 2 full time staff operating in two shifts
(2 resources from 8 am to 2 pm and another 2 resources from 2 pm to
8 pm)
4. All assembly records are digitized from 1956.
5. All video records are digitized from 1996.
6. A high speed laser jet printer for printing any documents.
