Hyderabad|India|July'2009: The golden
treasure of knowledge is hidden from the public of the city itself and
there is a need to create awareness on regular basis to make the institute
more useful for the people . Even Chief Minister would be pleased to visit
such an illuminating place on any appropriate occasion. This was said by
Dr J.Geeta Reddy ,Minister for I&PR ,Tourism and Archives after a review
meeting with the officials during her visit to Andhra Pradesh State
Archives and Research Institute ,Tarnaka on 15th July.
She said she is ready to help the Institute to lift it up as Chief
Minister had also stressed on development. She gave assurance that if
central grant was roped in state Govt would fund 25% of the total grant
for the development of the Institute.
She suggested to invite the school children by enlightening the school
managements about the importance of the institute apart from holding
seminars on regular basis .
She also assured to help in filling up the vacancies when she came to know
that half of the posts of the Institute are lying vacant
Later she visited all the sections including important repository of the
Institute where she became ecstatic after having a glance of the original
hand written letter of Sri Mahatma Gandhi . She was amazed by seeing
original farmans ,sanads and other rare documents dating back to 400
years.
Earlier Dr.Zareena Parveen, Director, A.P.State Archives and Research
Institute gave power point presentation with an over view of the
Institute. She informed to the minister that the Institute preserves
around 5 crores (50 million) documents of various eras and it is one of
the ten largest archives in the World.
