AYURYOG 2010 at University of Hyderabad
Hyderabad|India|March'2010: The Department of Sanskrit Studies is
organizing a two day National Conference on Sanskrit Texts of Ayurveda and
Yoga (AYURYOG 2010) during 21-22, March, 2010 at C.V. Raman Auditorium,
University of Hyderabad.
To achive the highest pursuits of human life, one should be healthy in
body and mind. So, the highest importance should be given to health at any
cost. If health is lost everything is lost. Physically, psychologically
and socially good health helps us to be productive. The key to good health
is being austere, Controlling intake of food, control over senses,
maintaining tranquility of mind. The fundamental concepts of Yoga and
Ayurveda are intertwined.
Unfortunately, Ayurveda has been sidelined by WHO by being giving a tag as
'alternative medicine'. Now, it is high time to bring back the
applicability of Ayurveda to our lives. The seminal text in Ayurveda, 'Charaka
Samhita', is still not available as a critical edition in India. Many more
Sanskrit texts even do not see the light of the day due to neglect. It is
with this idea that this Conference is being organized.
Inaugural is at 9:00 am on 21st March and, Dr. C.H.S. Sastry, Former
Advise, AYUSH is delivering the keynote address. Prof. V. Kannan, Pro Vice
Chancellor, University of Hydeabad will inaugurate the conference. Prof.
Mohan Ramanan will preside over the function. Dr. J.S.R.A. Prasad is the
coordinating the conference and his contact number is 99495-29761. About
twenty five scholars are presenting research papers. Sanskrit Academy is
supporting the event.
