A five-member delegation of Apache Footwear group led by Mr. Andrew Chen,
Hong Kong headquarters and Mr. Jerry Chen, General Manager, Apache
Footwear India Private Limited, Nellore, called on chief minister Dr Y S
Rajasekhara Reddy on 2nd of June to brief him about the company's future plans in the
state.
The chief minister Dr Reddy, while complimenting the company for its good
work in providing large scale employment to young people in remote
Mambattu area in Nellore district, has offered all needful support for
their operations that can help provide further employment opportunities to
rural masses.
While briefing the chief minister about the status of Apache's footwear
manufacturing operations in the 314-acre SEZ in Mambattu village, Mr.
Andrew Chen said the company would like to make Andhra a strong base for
footwear production before expanding into other regions in the country.
The company, which produces different models of shoe for the
internationally renowned Adidas brand, currently employs around 5000
workers at its Nellore facility.
The delegation profoundly thanked the chief minister for the government's
continuous support to their operations and expressed its willingness to
set up a couple of satellite units in the state to enhance the production
capacity keeping in line with the increased orders expected in future from
the global footwear major, Adidas.
APACHE FOOTWEAR INDIA PRIVATE LTD
is aiming to raise its capacity of manufacturing of footwear
from the present 3.50 lakhs to 5 lakhs pairs per month in a year.
