Hyderabad|India|April'2010: Chief Minister Dr.K.Rosaiah underlined
the need to strengthen the India-Australian ties in different spheres. He
also stressed the need to clear the air about the safety of Indian
students in Australia in view of the recent attacks on them. He said
bilateral delegations and discussions would help improve the ties. He was
speaking to the Australian delegation which met him.
The high profile Australian delegation was sponsored by Mr.DSN Murthy,
Managing Director & CEO, Dhanush Infotech. The team has been touring India
to build better bilateral relationship in areas such as education,
business, trade, culture, sports etc. The delegation was led by Mr.
Rajendra Nimje, former IAS Officer who had worked as Secretary of Higher
Education in Andhra Pradesh government.
The Chief Minister said that both Hyderabad and Australian cities can
exchange and have cooperation in areas like IT, BT, Infrastructure,
Agriculture, Mining, Irrigation, Water Resources etc. Both sides agreed to
pursue next level of consultation in these areas by sending an Andhra
Pradesh Business Delegation to Australia. The Australian delegation is
very keen to establish the Sister City relationship with Hyderabad to
promote business interests.
A proposal has been put forth to establish a Sister City relationship
between Hyderabad and two Australian cities of Brisbane and Ipswich which
share great commonalities and are planning to enhance cooperation and
business ties. The Chief Minister was informed that one of the main
purposes of the Australian delegation’s visit was to launch the website

AussieIndiaHarmony.com, developed and sponsored by
Dhanush InfoTech. He was told that they are keen on developing harmony in
Aussie India relationships and shown interest in taking guardianship of
the students studying in Queensland.
The CM has lauded the efforts of the Australian Delegation and promised to
provide all support to the harmony building efforts. He expressed full
faith that care is being taken by the Australian Govt. and the incidents
reported might be out of context. There is certainly a scope to improve
further and AP is ready to help in this regard. Further, there is lot of
opportunities for both sides to work together. Hyderabad has great
infrastructure building capacity and our companies can take up big
projects in Australia and both Mayors have expressed that they are
interested in bringing investments to our State. The CM welcomed the move
and promised that bilateral exchange on many fronts is possible.
Mr. Paul and Mr. Graham both invited the Chief Minister to lead a
delegation to Brisbane and Ipswich to explore the bilateral trade and
investments. The Chief Minister has promised to start this activity by
sending a team of officials followed by the visit.
Later at Hotel Fortune Katriya, Hyderabad, the delegates launched Indian
Chapter of AussieIndiaHarmony.com. Mr. Gopalakrishna, IAS (Retired),
Former Special Chief Secretary to AP Government and currently is President
of National HRD (South India), Dr.D.Narsimha Reddy, Vice Chancellor of
JNTU, Hyderabad, Lord Mayor Paul Pisasale from City of Ipswich, Australia,
Lord Deputy Mayor Graham Quirk from City of Brisbane, Australia, Mr. DSN
Murthy, MD & CEO of Dhanush InfoTech were the dignitaries at the
AussieIndiaHarmony.com launch ceremony.
Australian delegation expressed their special thanks to Dhanush InfoTech
for setting up their operations based out of Ipswitch, in Springfield and
CM appreciated the efforts of Dhanush in improving & establishing
bilateral business relationship between cities & countries.
The Chief Minister appreciated the initiative which would enable Indians
and Australians to showcase their coexistence and friendship as well as
business relationships.
