Bhutan delegation in city to
study AP's innovative health services
Hyderabad|India|January'2010: A 8-member
delegation of the Health Ministry from Bhutan led by its Health Minister,
Mr.Lyonpo Zangley Dupka called on the Chief Minister K.Rosaiah at his
residence.
The team is visiting the State to study the innovative health services
like Arogya sri, ‘108’ and ‘104’ that are being implemented in the state.
The Chief Minister said that nearly seven crore population out of the
eight crore are benefiting from the HMRI and EMRI health programmes in the
State as no where in the country. Around eight to nine States in the
country are trying to replicate the ‘104’ and ‘108’ mobile health services
that are being implemented in the State of Andhra Pradesh and the “Aarogya
Sri” which is the pet programme of former Chief Minister late
Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy is becoming popular day by day and attracting the
attention of several states in the country as well as the developing
countries. Around 689 crore were spent last year under the programme and
196 cochlear surgeries were performed so far to help the hearing impaired
especially among the children below the age group of 8 years, he said.
Mr.Dupka said that they have visited Devara Yamjal village in the
outskirts of the city today and that they were very much impressed by the
health services being provided through ‘104’ mobile health services. They
expressed surprise when the Chief Minister told them that health services
were being provided to the low income group in the State through ‘Aarogya
Sri’ programme in which a common man can get corporate treatment for 942
identified diseases, free of cost.
CEO, HMRI Mr. Balaji Utla and Chief Advisor, HMRI, Dr.A.P.Ranga Rao were
present.
