Hyderabad|India|January'2012: Cotton Council International
(CCI) announces the Fourth Edition of its fashion design contest – Let’s
Design. This pan-India initiative gives aspiring designers an opportunity
to showcase their talent and creativity with the country’s most important
textile fibre and the backbone of Indian fashion – cotton.
The theme for this season – ‘Design for your icon’ – is all about
celebrating those who have inspired us. Design hopefuls must submit a
sketch of an original design for their icon along with a concept note.
Semifinalists will be invited to Delhi to present their design portfolio
to the judges for further consideration. The twelve finalists will remain
in Delhi at a “Reality House” and compete in a series of challenges
specially designed to highlight the many facets of cotton.
“We’re proud and excited to be heading into our fourth season of Let’s
Design”, said Ms. Agnieszka Fijol, CCI Representative (Programme Head –
India), “in season four we’re featuring a bigger fabric selection than
ever before to truly show the possibilities in cotton and challenge the
stereotypes. Contestants can expect to have their creativity pushed to the
limits and viewers will be amazed at what is possible in cotton.”
An eminent jury comprising of leading names from creative, design and
fashion fraternity will handpick contestants from across the country to
compete for the grand prize in the reality series ‘Let’s Design’, which
will air on the Zoom entertainment channel.
A number of activities have been scheduled at premier design institutes
throughout the country, including Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune and
Ahmedabad, where eminent city-based designers will visit as guest
lecturers and conduct discussions on the importance, relevance, benefits
and the future of cotton in Indian fashion. At select locations designers
