Higher Defence Management Course begins at CDM

Higher Defence Management Course-6 at College of Defence Management in
Secunderabad on 15 Jun’ 2010.
Hyderabad|India|June'2010: Lt. General I J Singh Commandant of
MCEME inaugurated the Sixth Higher Defence Management Course at
College of Defence Management (CDM) at Sainikpuri, Secunderabad. The 44
week long course is being attended by 127 officers of Army, Navy Air Force
and Coast Guard and from friendly countries including Afghanistan,
Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and Sri Lanka.
In his inaugural address, Lt. General I J Singh dwelt upon several
security challenges faced by the nation in the present security milieu. He
said that with the advent of globalisation, our country cannot remain
insulated from the events around the world, as was seen during the recent
global financial crisis. He exhorted the participants, as emerging
military leaders, to imbibe the spirit of joint ness, which would be
critical in achieving effectiveness in battlefields. The General officer
lauded the CDM for laying emphasis in the curriculum on management of
resources to support National Security Strategy and promoting management
and strategic thoughts leading to enlightened leadership, efficient
resource management and effective decision making.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Commandant of College of Defence
Management, Rear Admiral V S Batra spelt out the thrust areas of the
course and expressed hope that the learning experience at CDM would change
the way in tackling the problems and would be helpful in subsequent
tenures in higher appointments.
