CM to push for
AP with Railway minister

Reddy will take up with the Union Railway Minister Ms. Mamata
Banerjee and others, the requirements of Andhra Pradesh to be
included in this year's Railway Budget during his visit to Delhi.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting on the Railway requirements
with Minister for Transport and Railway and State Government
officials.
The Chief Minister also will discuss the issues of Kazipet Wagon
Workshop, Transforming Tirupati into a World Class Railway Station
etc., with the Railway Ministry.
Railway officials informed the Chief Minister that out of 21 trains
announced in 2010-11 budget, 16 have already been introduced and 4
trains are to be introduced soon. Tirupati-Secunderabad bi-weekly
express, Secunderabad-Manuguru tri-weekly express, Tirupati-Nellore
and Hyderabad-Kolhapur bi-weekly express.
The State Government in coordination with the Railways has proposed
as many as 35 new trains for the Railway Budget 2011-12. Of this, 17
are Mail & Express trains, 8 Commuter trains and 10 MMTS. New Mail &
Express trains proposed are Kacheguda - Tirupati (via Dharmavaram,
Pakala) (Daily)--(Express); Secunderabad-Howrah, (Duronto),
Secunderabad - Kakinada, Hyderabad - Visakhapatnam, Tirupati -
Guntur (via Tenali) and Karimnagar - Tirupati - all Superfast;
Tirupati - Kadapa, Kurnool Town - Secunderabad-Vikarabad,
Akola--Tirupati--all Express; Kacheguda- Thiruvananthapuram,
Secunderabad-Vasco (via Guntakal, Bellari, Hubli), Hyderabad-Darbhanga,
Secunderabad-Mangalore(via Guntakal, Bangalore), Kakinada-Mumbai
(via Guntur, Secunderabad, Wadi) and Hyderabad- Jammutavi/ Amritsar/Chandigarh
- all Superfast; Secunderabad--Narsapur and Narsapur--Nagarsol - all
Express; Tirupati--Guntakal (via Pakala) - Fast Passenger;
Tirupati-Cuddapah, Secunderabad-Manchiryal,
Sirpurkagaznagar-Kazipet--all MEMU; Secunderabad-Bidar, Guntakal-
Dharmavaram, Kacheguda--Miryalguda and Kacheguda--Nizamabad--all
DEMU and MMTS-10 more Services.
Despite large commuter demand in the suburban and intercity areas,
South Central Railway has not been getting adequate MEMU/DEMU/MMTS
rakes, which facilitate high speed commuting. Intercity trains badly
needed between Rayalaseema and Telangana towns viz Kurnool to
Secunderabad and Nizamabad to Secunderabad etc. At least 4-5 MEMU/DEMU
to be sanctioned especially in Rayalaseema and Telangana areas. MMTS
Phase-II cleared by Planning Commission and Railway Board is to be
sanctioned in 2011-12 budget since it is a popular capacity building
project with a high ROR (12%). Moreover 2/3rd cost to be borne by AP
state
Meanwhile Projects mentioned in the Budget 2010-11 but yet to be
sanctioned (Cost Sharing basis) are: New lines: Nadikudi –
Srikalahasti (309 km), Bhadrachalam – Kovvur (151 km), Manuguru –
Ramagundam (200 km) and Akkannapet – Medak (15 km). Doubling &
Electrification: Vijayawada – Gudivada-Machilipatnam/
Bhimavaram-Narsapur-Nidadavolu (221 km) and Guntur – Tenali –
Repalle (59 km). Projects mentioned in Budget 2010-11 but yet to be
sanctioned (Public Private Partnership) are: Kondapalli – Kothagudem
(127 km), Cumbum – Proddatur (142 km) and Gadwal – Macherla (233
km).
Projects mentioned in Budget 2010-11 but yet to be sanctioned
(Socially Desirable Projects) are: Krishna – Vikarabad (148 km),
Patancheru – Adilabad (316 km), Bhadrachalam Road – Visakhapatnam
(277 km), Secunderabad – Zaheerabad (64 km), Jaggayyapeta Town –
Miryalaguda (66 km), Kacheguda – Chityal (87 km), Mantralayam Road –
Kurnool Town (111 km) and Pandurangapuram – Bhadrachalam Town
(13km).
Projects already surveyed but pending with Railway Board are: New
lines: Kondapalli – Kothagudem (126 km), Gadwal – Macherla (233 km),
Koyagudam Mines – Tadikalpudi (19 km), Bitragunta – Donakonda (199
km), Adilabad – Armoor (136.27 km), Markapur Road – Srisailam (65
km), Gudur – Durgarajapatnam (45 km), Piduguralla – Narsaraopet (32
km) and Cumbum – Prodattur (142 km).
Projects already surveyed pending with Railway Board are: Doubling:
Bibinagar – Nallapadu (252 km), Secunderabad – Mahbubnagar (113 km),
Guntur – Tenali (29 km). Tripling: Balharshah – Kazipet (210 km),
Kazipet – Vijayawada (219 km), Vijayawada – Gudur (292 km) and Moula
Ali – Bhongir (38 km). There are also popular demand for Surveys of
Tenali – Repalle (Doubling), Macherla – Nadikude (Doubling),
Hyderabad – Srisailam (New Line) and Secunderabad – Peddapalli via
Siddipet (New Line). The Chief Minister will prioritise these
projects along with other demands when he takes up the issue with
the Railway Minister
