Defence Minister visits DRDL

Hyderabad|India|April'2010: Defence Minister Shri A.K.Antony
visited Defence Electronics Research Laboratory (DLRL) accompanied by
Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri and DRDO Chief Dr. V.K.Saraswat. Shri
G.Boopathy, Director, DLRL received him and introduced the Senior
Scientists who are working on strategic projects at DLRL in Hyderabad. The
Defence Minister has appreciated the achievements of the prestigious
institution which is engaged in research and development of critical
electronic warfare equipments, used by Armed Forces, Para Military and
Security Agencies.
Director DLRL gave a detailed presentation on the activities, achievements
and future milestones of the laboratory to the Defence Minister. After the
presentation he was conducted to the static display area where all the
vehicle mounted systems which are already inducted into the Armed Forces,
Para military Forces and Security agencies were displayed. An impressive
exhibition was arranged to showcase various systems developed and the
facilities available in the laboratory. He has shown keen interest in
understanding the systems developed by the laboratory and appreciated the
commendable efforts put by the scientists for providing invaluable
Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems.
Later addressing the Scientists, the Minister has lauded the efforts of
the Laboratory towards achieving maximum indigenization in the field of
electronic warfare. He stated that in the fast changing security scenario,
there should not be any compromise on quality and commitment. He said that
our Armed Forces are fully prepared to meet any security challenges.
The Defence Minister also said that unless national and internal security
is assured our economic growth is not possible. He assured total support
from the Government of India, towards achieving self reliance. He advised
the scientists of the Laboratory to keep the user’s satisfaction as the
motto without compromising the quality and commitment. Shri A K Antony
before leaving for New Delhi also visited Research Centre Imarat (RCI),
Hyderabad, another premier research institution of DRDO.
