Datacraft to boost global
bank’s customer service offering in India
To upgrade
internet gateways for its local data centres in Hyderabad
Hyderabad|India|May'2009:
Datacraft, the region’s leading IT solutions and services company, has won
a prestigious contract to upgrade the internet gateways for a leading
global bank at its local data centres in Hyderabad. The solution bolsters
connectivity locally as well as outside the country and paves the way for
enhanced international standards of customer service.
Customers are constantly expecting and demanding the same standards of
banking services wherever they may be. To meet customers’ expectation and
to uphold the bank’s service standards, the bank recognised the need to
upgrade its network infrastructure in India to cater for extra capacity,
as well as to deliver greater performance, resilience and security.
The daily transmission of sensitive customer information is essential in
the bank’s operations so the project required the creation of secure
internet gateways for both internal users and customers. Previously, the
bank had relied on central resources, depending on a gateway based at its
headquarters outside India. As the number of bank customers increased, the
bank considered an alternative cost-effective solution, maximising usage
of the existing intranet which would work for both the bank and its users.
The bank decided to consolidate its data centre in India as this offered
the most cost-effective solution to offer enhanced customer service.
Datacraft was tasked to consult, plan and execute the integration of the
entire gateway project. The solution includes the set up of a secure
gateway which was protected from the different types of threats arising
from additional external connectivity. This was achieved by deploying a
secure internet gateway for internal users at the centre in Hyderabad and
at two other local internet gateways. Datacraft was responsible for the
implementation and integration of the gateway, with minimal risk and
disruption to the bank’s business operations.
The bank, which has a strict vendor selection policy, selected Datacraft
for the job as they were confident they could handle the multiple
technologies at the gateway level and manage multiple level firewall
policies to be implemented internally across the bank. The gateway devised
by Datacraft is robust and secure to enable the bank to enhance its
service at both internal and external levels.
“Datacraft’s expertise in integrating complex and secure financial
gateways into existing infrastructures is very evident in this project.
Given our proven track record in and intimate knowledge of the Financial
Services industry, that is backed by a dedicated team of highly
experienced IT engineers and consultants, we were able to complete the
project smoothly and timely,” said Sunil Manglore, CEO, Datacraft India.
The implementation of a state-of-the-art data centre facilities means the
bank can rely on round-the-clock business continuity and disaster recovery
in the event of a system downtime. The bank can also use their computing
resources in the most efficient and cost-effective way, but without
compromising performance, reliability or security.
