HOMAGE PAID TO MARTYRS ON 66TH ANNIVERSARY OF
EME CORPS

Homage was paid
to martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in the discharge of their
duty at a wreath laying ceremony organised on the occasion of 66th
Raising Day Anniversary celebrations of the Corps of Electronics and
Mechanical Engineers (EME) at the War Memorial of 1EME Centre, in
Cantonment on 15th Oct.
On this occasion, Lt Gen I J Singh, Commandant, MCEME and Colonel
Commandant of the Corps of EME paid tribute to the martyrs by laying
the wreath at the altar of the memorial. Brigadier Bibhuti Bhushan,
Commandant, 1 EME Centre, Lt. General (Retd) LM Rajgopal and Major
General (Retd) A Visweswara Rao were also paid floral tributes to
the Martyrs. Last post was sounded and a two-minute silence for the
peace of departed souls was observed.
The three day celebrations were began with a “Special Sainik
Sammelan”. While presiding over special Sainik Sammelan, Brigadier
Bibhuti Bhushan commended his men including the civilians for their
dedication to duty saying that they had worked enthusiastically with
great perseverance in keeping with the high traditions of their
Corps motto “Karm Hi Dharm”. Besides achieving a high level of user
satisfaction by using their technical skills, they had also
delivered the desird results in other responsibilities, he added. He
also expressed confidence that his men would continue to strive hard
to achieve higher levels of excellence.
A barakhana in the evening in which ex-personnel of the EME were
also invited also formed a highlight of the programme of
celebrations.
Since its inception on October 15, 1943, the Corps of EME has welded
itself into a fine and efficient organization. EME is engaged in
providing repair support to the complete range of equipment held by
the Army including vehicles, small arms, instruments, medical
equipment, guns, tanks, communication equipment and helicopters. If
combat arms are the teeth of the Army then EME has a vital function
of keeping them sharp.
