Emergency Management and
Research Institute ( EMRI) has signed an MoU with Osmania University to
grant affiliation to its two year Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in
Emergency Care . The MoU was signed by Prof. Y.C Venudhar, Registrar &
Secretary, Executive Council, OU and Dr.G.V.Ramana Rao, Executive Partner,
Emergency Medicine Learning and Care-EMRI, in the presence of
Prof.T.Tirupati Rao, Vice Chancellor, Osmania University and Mr. Venkat
Changavalli, CEO - EMRI. Speaking on the occasion CEO- EMRI said: “The
two year diploma is aimed to build people expertise in our country in
emergency care. Currently, we are offering this course only in Hyderabad,
we hope to open up centers in other states, so that it is accessible to
more students.”

Speaking on the occasion
Prof. T. Tirupati Rao, VC, Osmania University said, “By entering into an
MoU with EMRI, Osmania University takes pride of the fact that this
employment-oriented course will benefit a large number of students and
bring out the future Paramedic Professionals in Emergency Medical Services
for India.”
The course curriculum for the two year
Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Emergency Care has been designed and
developed jointly by EMRI and inputs from Stanford University School of
Medicine, USA. The program covers extensive clinical knowledge while
educating and training students in developing skills in leadership,
communication, necessary IT skills, education in emergency management and
skills pertaining to pre-hospital care.
While an individual gets the training and
the education necessary in handling emergencies, the job also fulfills his
self actualization needs of saving lives. Students can join organizations
both public and private as practitioners of emergency care in emergency
departments, program managers of organizations involved in emergency
medical services, preceptors and instructors of paramedic teaching, part
of clinical research in medical emergencies, and providers of pre-hospital
care.
EMRI launched the Post Graduation Program
in July 2007, 272 students are currently undergoing the program. Speaking
on the occasion Dr. G. V Ramana Rao, - Executive Partner EMLC said, “
Having designed a world-class curriculum in partnership with Stanford
University School of Medicine, the Osmania University affiliation will
now give the Diploma a national and international university recognition.
The affiliation will facilitate easy education loans for aspiring students
and enhance job opportunities in large corporate hospitals, clinical
research institutes and education and training centers.”
EMRI also has collaborations with AHA
(American Heart Association) that provides study materials for the special
certification programs designed by them. After the completion of the two
year program the students will also be certified as Advanced Cardiac Life
Support (ACLS), International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), Pediatric
Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) approved by the
AHA.
